    Your role in the team

     

     

    As part of Allstate Canada’s technology transformation, we are delighted to open an architect position to help support the local ANI teams which are currently aligned across a broad range of Allstate Canada teams.  This role will report into the Allstate Canada Architecture group, as well as having a tie into the Allstate Enterprise Architecture group.

     

    As an architect you will:

     

    • Participate in planning activities for the project or activity
    • Produce architecture deliverables to high quality, such as Conceptual Solution Architecture diagrams, and maintain these deliverables throughout project lifecycle and lifespan of the solution
    • Provide communication, documentation, and escalation of architectural impacts and risks to the appropriate parties (peer Architects, Project Managers, Manager, Delivery Area Contacts, etc.)
    • Collaborate with other architects to develop solutions that integrate well across platforms. 
    • Support the Solution Design process
    • Contribute to and participate in cross-domain architecture reviews (X-DAR)
    • Contribute to code/design inspections/peer reviews as needed
    • Provide consultation and review to other architects and delivery teams.
    • Support and develop relationships with App Developers, and System Analysts
    • Review and contribute to Business Requirements
    • Develop application architectures based upon Business Requirements and other constraints
    • Collaborate with colleagues to create business driven technology roadmaps 
    • Contribute to architecture direction statements that guide planning and implementation of strategies and projects
    • Promote adherence to GPPs, Direction statements, Roadmaps (Business Capability, Technical, and Application), and other standards
    • Adhere to the enterprise Product Evaluation and Acquisition Process (PEAP)
    • Coordinate activity between architectural horizontals
    • Contribute to Technical and Application roadmaps as necessary
    • Work with the various parties to create a strategic technology vision that aligns with the business objectives
    • Work with the intake groups (Business consulting and Intake teams) to develop solutions that align with the business objectives, architectural principles, data principles and corporate strategy
    • Enable touch points on key projects and product roadmaps to ensure success of the overall initiative through effective architecture

     

     

     

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • At minimum 4 years’ experience designing and developing software applications
    • Working knowledge of fundamental web, mobile and cloud development & security practices
    • Experience of developing and designing solutions using standard patterns, practices, and frameworks
    • Knowledge of integration technologies, patterns, and standards
    • Understanding of consumer facing solutions and the mechanisms to ensure they are secure and scale

     

    The successful candidate must also demonstrate a high level of competency in:

     

    • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
    • Ability to work independently on POCs
    • Ability to collaborate & guide development teams from the recommended Architecture
    • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical product timelines in a fast-paced environment

     

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Good exposure to API Best Practices, Governance & Operationalization Models, and awareness of Common Technology frameworks to enable the same (Spring Suite, .NET, API Gateway technologies: Datapower, Apigee)
    • Good knowledge of Integration Technologies/Patterns, Distributed Application Architecture & Patterns
    • Experience with P&C Insurance and Claims in specific is preferred
    • Has experience working with different database solutions no-SQL and relational (MS SQL, Oracle, Casandra)
    • Has experience with integration technologies and tools (PaaS: Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Cloud integration tools:  AWS, Azure, Integration tools: Tibco, Informatica, Kafka, AMQP)
    • Strong API and Microservice design experience
