Software Engineering Manager - VRM

  In this role you will lead teams of software engineers responsible for our InsightVM Vulnerability Management product. Using InsightVM, customers scan their networks to detect and track vulnerabilities in their on-prem infrastructure. InsightVM allows customers to gain clarity on risk and communicate the progress of remediation programs to eliminate these risks.

   

  The role is focused on development of cloud based analytics solutions but involves coordination between teams building out on-prem components and cloud based analytics and reporting solutions. You will work closely with an outstanding peer group of highly skilled engineers in order to prioritise and set direction of the teams.

   

  About the Team

   

  The team is responsible for delivering a range of analytical and reporting solutions to help customers manage large amounts of data related to vulnerabilities and risks their systems are exposed to. The teams provide customers with a range of features including dashboards, risk prioritisation tools, remediation projects, policy assessment, integrated threat feeds and more - all to help customers understand and manage their security posture.

   

  The teams work in a cloud environment, delivering solutions on microservices architectures utilising best practices and CI/CD to rapidly deliver new solutions to customer problems.

   

  About the Role

   

  As a software engineering manager for the InsightVM teams, you will be responsible for managing the team’s day-to-day operations. First and foremost, you coach and grow the individuals on your team so they feel supported. You will be responsible for addressing any issues that arise quickly and effectively.

   

  You will also be responsible for keeping track of the projects the teams are working on, facilitating cross-team discussions when necessary and deciding on the future direction of the team (what projects they will focus on next). You will collaborate with UX, Product and other development teams to deliver best-in-class solutions for our customers.

   

  In this role, you will:

  • Directly manage multiple teams, coaching and mentoring team members, including scoping work and prioritising tasks
  • Mentor engineers and help grow their skills, identify growth areas, set expectations and provide feedback
  • Managing projects and socialising progress across engineering teams and leadership
  • Keep a keen eye on quality, and continue to drive improvements to testing, monitoring and alerting
  • Work cross functionally with PM, UX and Engineering to address specific customer pain points and to think strategically about the future direction of the product
  • Work closely with other managers and teams across the InsightVM product to align efforts and initiatives
  • Kickstart new ideas, build proof of concepts and jumpstart newly funded projects

  • An understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
  • Experience working cross-functionally with PM, UX and Engineering teams
  • Experience with managing multiple, high-impact projects
  • Capable of managing through high-intensity situations when they arise
  • BEng, BSc or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
