BT has launched a ‘Skills for Tomorrow’ programme which will provide free digital skills training to users across the UK.
The telecoms company announced it had “made a commitment last year to help more people and businesses make the most of tech and give them the skills they need.”
As no one then could have predicted the lockdown the nation would be in now, a spokesperson added: “During this challenging time, we hope these resources will be helpful to people trying to keep in touch, informed and entertained.”
The resources include “easy-to-use guidance on accessing and understanding public services online – such as local council and NHS websites – advice on using video calling and social media, and a guide to watching TV and listening to radio online.”
There is also information on browsing the internet, using search engines, online and mobile banking, and online shopping.

As a majority of parents have had to resort to home-schooling, children too are spending more time online. BT’s guides cover numerous online safety topics, from cyber bullying to protecting children from the potential risks of online gaming.
There are numerous guides to help small businesses function online, in partnership with Google Digital Garage, Small Business Britain and LinkedIn Learning.
These can be accessed via several webinars too, to help with online presence, digital marketing, data analytics, social media and collaboration tools.

Some guides offer advice on how to work online effectively wherever you are, as most of the UK is now working from home for the first time.
BT commented: “Like everyone, we look forward to getting back to normal life as soon as possible. But, in the meantime, we hope these free resources help provide some support and advice, connecting as many people as possible, during this difficult time.”
