The US financial services firm State Street is planning an expansion in Belfast with a new technology-focused office.
The Boston-based company is also currently searching for a new technology team, including at least 11 Belfast-based software engineers. Property news website React News has reported that the corporation want their new technology office to house at least 100 employees in Belfast's city centre.
The billion-dollar firm presently employs approximately 40,000 people worldwide, including 2500 employees in the Republic of Ireland. Since setting up across the border in 1996, they now operate there from five locations and have also recently established offices in London and Edinburgh.
The initial recruitment drive is believed to be a precursor to an announcement, which is expected to be made later in the year.
State Street is not the American firm to reveal development of a technology-driven office in Belfast this year. US tech company Unosquare announced their Belfast expansion in February 2019 and PwC is to take up all of Merchant Square with new £70 million tech office space, in Northern Ireland's biggest ever private sector office deal.
