The Team
You will be part of the wider Production Support team that exists in Aflac Northern Ireland, which focuses on the continued “Prevention is better than the Cure” approach. We are building several high-performing engineering teams, who will have full product ownership from design to deployment. We will be adopting a quality-first approach to building solutions which will directly improve our customer experience and ensure that we can provide first-rate support to internal partners and external customers.
The intention is for our teams to continually adapt and reinvent their skills and capabilities over time as technologies change and evolve. We will provide the right challenges and opportunities to enable your success, however we need you to bring your enthusiasm, the ability to learn quickly, and to take our on site technology and hardware to the next level to provide the best working environment as possible for Aflac Northern Ireland.
The Role
We want an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to utilise their existing skills, as well as developing new ones to help deliver first-class IT support to the organisation. You will be a confident communicator able to engage with all levels of staff in a positive manner. Having a proactive mindset is a must, focusing on ensuring that all our in house, on site hardware and software is providing value and efficiency for our ever growing company. As much as this is a hands-on office environment role, we are also moving our organizational architecture to the cloud, hence there a number of opportunities for Learning and Development in the Cloud space.
Experience with the continued maintenance and evaluation of current hardware and software suite that are contained within a busy office is essential. Fostering relationships with partner teams, both in Northern Ireland and the US, is going to be a major part of the role, hence teamworking and collaboration is key. The initial remit of the role is within core hours of UK 9am to 5pm, however as a number of our colleagues are in the US, there is an expectation to be flexible where the need arises. Finally, we are in the process of preparing for our impending move to a new, state of the art office, to which we feel you will be playing an active and important role.
Due to the nature of this role we would expect the successful candidate is office based for 70% of their duties. We are flexible as to how this is structured but given some of the roles and responsibilities can only be done in-person we would expect the person to be willing to be onsite as and when is required.
