  Your role in the team

   

  Allstate’s Automation & Orchestration Organization is looking for motivated Systems / Platform / IT / Software and Solution Engineers to help us provide a platform onboarding concierge service for the rest of the company.  We’re quickly developing a new cloud environment and the associated systems and controls to enable other business areas at Allstate to achieve their goals in an efficient and secure manner.  Platform onboarding concierge Engineers will join a highly collaborative team that works on cutting edge, industry relevant technology.  Don’t miss this opportunity to join an organization where your innovative thinking and technology skills can make an impact on the future of the way Allstate develops and delivers software in the future.  

   

   

  The Team:

   

  As part of the team within the Allstate Automation & Orchestration Organization, the successful candidates will collaborate with the Platform Engineering team and  the Application teams that leverage the platform to provide troubleshooting,  triaging and general consultation that enables easy onboarding and utilization of the platform. As a team we understand that a good hosting experience requires coordination and collaboration across multiple dependent services and teams. 

  The Platform Concierge Engineer has competencies in systems thinking and the continuous delivery of Application Software and integration with various dependent services. 

  The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a passion for learning new technologies and helping others, DevOps knowledge, and a previous systems administration-style role such as scripting deployments and installations.

   

  This role drives quality hosting onboarding experience through: 

   

  • Understanding hosting requirements
  • Translating requirements to onboarding services
  • Knowledge sharing and assistance
  • Troubleshooting and triaging
  • User documentation
  • Daily interactions and open communication channels
  • Active participation in regular meetings (e.g., product team standup, planning, retrospective)
  • Able to work effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries 

   

  So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

   

  • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
  • At minimum 3 years IT industry experience including at least 1 years’ technology development and implementation experience
  • Proven ability to provide technical documentation and update/maintain Microsoft SharePoint, Confluence or other Collaborative sites
  • Proven ability to interact with various teams and roles to knowledge share, assist and solve technical problems across different technologies and/or technology stacks

   

  The successful candidate must also demonstrate a high level of competency in:

   

  • Self-starter and able to actively learn different technologies as needed to provide white glove service
  • High degree of empathy to understand user experience and identify improvement opportunities that can be effectively communicated with responsible teams
  • Basic monitoring and ability to measure environment health 
  • Infrastructure automation and desire to streamline processes and implement self-healing
  • Actively work to transfer knowledge of software engineering practices and technical skills to other team members.
  • Maintain positive outlook in handling continuous change and bring a sense of urgency in driving positive change at Allstate (innovation, faster time to market, improved quality)
  • Embrace an organization model that is self-directed / self-managed as a team and as individuals

  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer related discipline
  • Previous coding experience
  • Platform / System Administration experience
  • Familiarity with the following tools:
    • Jenkins
    • Artifactory
    • Kubernetes
    • Docker
