    Job Description

    Our Software Asset Management Practice provides our clients with expert services and the ability to quickly right-size licensing costs and achieve compliance.

    The SAM Consultant will provide support in the delivery of SAM Services, SAM managed services, and procurement advisory services associated with Oracle products. When required the consultant will lead projects to ensure capacity demands are being met by the Version 1 Oracle SAM service stream. Combined with helping customers accurately verify their Oracle license position and online service consumption the successful candidate will need to successfully identify new business opportunities and provide pre-sales support when required. The primary focus of this role will involve Oracle but the consultant will at times be expected to provide overlay support for multi-vendor solutions.

    The purpose of the Oracle SAM Consultant role is to deliver objective software license reviews supporting customer objectives goals of compliance and cost reduction and providing value-added services to enhance customer satisfaction.

    The SAM Consultant also provides may also provide pre-sales support to the SAM Sales team and partners in order to win new business.

    The SAM Consultant is expected to have technical expertise knowledge of the measurement of licenses for Oracle products.in the deployment of Oracle products and have a working knowledge of Auto-discovery tools.

    Role Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

    Pre-sales support (dependent on experience)

    • Supports the Version 1 SAM sales team by providing license  expertise and service delivery knowledge in customer-facing pre-sales activities
    • Contribute to the timely and accurate production of commercially robust and profitable proposals, service schedules and estimates in support of sales opportunities

     Service delivery

    • ·Where required takes on the role of lead consultant on Contribute to small and medium engagements ensuring project delivery plans are agreed with the customer and providing weekly progress updates to Management and client.
    • Works with Auto-discovery tools vendors to gather usage information for Version 1 customers
    • Produce formal written reports and analysis to an agreed standard clearly presenting findings and rationale for analysis
    • Performs peer reviews of deliverables and reports within the SAM consulting team
    • Identifies, manages, and escalates in a timely fashion risks and issues during project engagements.
    • Works with the Data Analysts to enable the customer to provide all the relevant licence grant and usage data to agreed standards and templates
    • Identifies opportunities for additional work, licence sales or consultancy, when in discussions with customer and passes this information on to SAM sSales.
    • Seeks assistance and review from senior SAM Ccommercial consultants for all resolution and optimisation recommendations.

    Customer Service

    • Attends pre sales meetings liaising with sales staff to evaluate opportunities and assist in the preparation of sales proposals and estimates.
    • Communicates Oracle’s licensing practices to both internal and external parties.
    • Prepares and presents Discovery findings clients as reports and presentations
    • Maintain contact with internal and external customers at all stages of the project from the initial onsite meeting to holding regular daily/weekly or ad hoc meetings with clients.
    • Ensures successful on-going delivery of project tasks
    • Liaising with sales staff to evaluate opportunities and assist in the preparation of sales proposals and estimates.
    • Assists client managers in closing possible review findings and achieving acceptance from customers
    • Maintain contact with internal and external customers at all stages of the project from the initial onsite meeting to holding regular daily/weekly or ad hoc meetings with clients.

    Working on the Business

    • Measures the usage of Oracle products using the relevant analytical tools and licence metrics.
    • Expert working knowledge of SAM technical tools and processes. Knowledge of usage and entitlement elements of Oracle licensing
    • Works with Data Analysts to record, document and analyse usage data gathered from customers.
    • Producing formal written review reports to agreed standards
    • Contributes to the ongoing development and knowledge sharing within the extended SAM team through regular discussion and feedback, for example at team meetings.
    • Identifies ways to improve and automate processes driving efficiency, quality and scalability.
    • Provide weekly and monthly reports to agreed deadlines and standards

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Oracle licensing policies, rules and applications
    • Working knowledge of Auto-discovery tools
    • Oracle products and functions and systems knowledge
    • Deep knowledge of at least one Oracle product set
    • Able to deal with complex data and systems architectures
    • Understanding business needs, sales process and role within that process
    • Insight into Oracle’s commercial operations and methods
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Methodical approach to problem solving
    • Experience of software licensing/compliance/audit
    • Good knowledge of Excel, Word and data organisation tool(s) desirable
    • Previous experience in customer facing consulting role
