Security Engineers

  • The Team

At Aflac NI we are building a multidisciplinary Cyber Security Team to support our Global Security Program, protecting our customers in the US and Japan.

Over the next three years, we plan to grow the Aflac NI Security Team to over 30 people and take ownership of key components of the Global Security Program. We are integrating with the Global Security Team to strengthen its existing functions and build new capabilities.

Working as part of the Aflac NI Cyber Security Team, you will partner with the US-based Security Engineering Team to plan, manage, and execute on the Global Security Strategy.

Aflac NI embraces diversity. Our team is one of Belfast's most diverse and represents talented people with a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We believe that the more inclusive we are, the better and more enjoyable our work will be.

    The Role

As part of Aflac NI’s ongoing growth strategy, we are looking for experienced Security Engineers to join our Global Security team.

As a Security Engineer, you will help develop and implement our security infrastructure to ensure that security risks are managed, and compliance obligations are met. You will work in the Aflac Northern Ireland Security Team, which owns the Global Data Protection Programme's strategy and delivery.

Your initial focus will be tokenisation, encryption, and key management, but will pivot as the programme evolves. With this, there will be plenty of opportunities for cross-training and upskilling.

You can think on your feet, innovate, and push the boundaries to provide creative solutions to problems. You can communicate with people at all levels and enjoy collaborating with others to achieve outcomes.

We are looking for individuals who are comfortable in both a technical leadership and practitioner capacity, working closely with the Security Architecture Team to execute Aflac's Data Protection Strategy.

(Some of) what you’ll be doing:

    • Support and enable Global Security's objectives by promoting and coordinating the deployment of data protection solutions.

    • Work closely with the Architecture and Operations Teams to develop and implement roadmaps to enhance Global Security's capabilities.

    • Plan, deploy and integrate data protection technologies across Aflac's on-premise, hosted, and cloud infrastructure environments.

    • Undertake gap analysis to identify and assess security vulnerabilities and formulate viable remediation strategies for control improvement.

    • Act as the technical lead and SME on project teams, providing advice, knowledge sharing, and technical assistance to other team members.

What we are looking for (don’t worry if you don’t have it all):

    Essential

    • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related discipline or 3+ years related work experience in related information security fields.

    • Experience building and deploying security solutions, preferably in a large financial services environment.

    • Software Development experience especially in the automation and orchestration of engineering tasks.

    • Solid analytical skills, including the ability to extract and use data to identify and solve ambiguous problems.

    Desirable

    • Knowledge of data protection mechanisms, including encryption, tokenisation, masking, DLP and key management.

    • Understanding of data modelling, ETL, data warehousing, and transformation of large-scale data sources using SQL.

    • Practical experience of applying OWASP secure coding practices.

    • Ability to evaluate products to ensure they meet the organisation's requirements.

    • Experience of using and securing cloud computing technologies, particularly AWS and Azure.

    • Familiarity with PCI DSS, US HIPPA, US FFIEC and the NIST CSF.

    • CISSP, CCSP or relevant SANS, AWS, or Azure certifications.

Aflac Northern Ireland is an equal opportunties employer
