    Job Description

    The Allstate NI Mobile Technology Team partners with technology and business stakeholders to contribute to and support the Allstate Corporation’s Mobile Technology Strategy. This strategy centers on developing mobile application, SMS and social media solutions in support of our business objectives.

    In your role as an Android developer, you will leverage your previous application design and development experience to build best-in-class mobile applications. Furthermore, your passion for user-interface design will enhance the mobile experience for Allstate consumers across the US and beyond.

    With the support of an experienced team behind you, you will lead the development of innovative, world-class projects. You will draw on insurance and wider industry and technology best-practice in the execution of your role and have opportunities to further build your technical skills.

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • Work in an Agile Scrum Methodology
    • Populate JIRA/VersionOne with backlog items.
    • Evaluate detailed business, functional, and high-level technical requirements to create User Stories.
    • Participate in structured code reviews to ensure standards and systems interoperability.
    • Implement detailed technical components with high-level architecture, applying reusability and up to date development techniques.
    • Provide Technical assistance in designing and writing Automated Unit and Functional tests
    • Provide technical assistance and provide future enhancement contribution for the apps.
    • Peer review and critique team members’ code.

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as an Android Developer building Commercial mobile apps.
    • Knowledge of Jenkins, Confluence
    • Working knowledge of Git
    • Firm Appreciation and understanding of industry trends within the mobile technology space
    • Experience implementing high-quality user interfaces from professional designs.
    • Excellent knowledge of best practices and coding standards.
    • Strong research and analytical skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on quality.
    • Willingness to step up and take the initiative.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills

    Desirable Criteria

    • Desirable criteria may be used where we have a high number of applicants.
    • Previous experience of coaching/mentoring
    • Exposure to location-based services
    • Working knowledge of JIRA/VersionOne
    • Knowledge of Kotlin, RxJava, Dagger.
    • Experience in coding in iOS
