    Engineering Team

    The Role

    Our Android Software Engineers are responsible for the delivery of a market leading telematics app leveraging cutting edge technologies, creative solutioning and results driven customer focus to support our mission to make transportation smarter, safer, and more useful for everyone.

    You will work closely with the Product Owner, developers, testers and stakeholders to develop our Product in line with Arity Agile Practices. As a developer your innovation and creative solutions will help lead both the technical architecture and future features of our Product.

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

    • Develop and implement mobile application solutions for Android mobile devices.
    • Participate and contribute to all phases of projects, including ideation, design, programming, defect correction, unit testing, code review and deployment planning.
    • Participate fully and enthusiastically in ideation and design discussions.
    • Research upcoming technology and bring new ideas to the team.
    • Provide expertise on current mobile standards and cutting-edge technologies and frameworks.
    • Partner closely with non-technical staff to define user requirements.

    Essential Criteria

    • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment. EU candidates must also demonstrate they are eligible to take up UK employment post-Brexit.
    • 2 years + of hands-on mobile application development experience for Android phones/tablets or 2 years + Java development experience
    • Experience with enterprise level, high-availability mobile application development required.
    • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin.
    • Proficient in Webservices (REST, JSON).
    • Familiarity with Industry Standard tools including GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins

    Desirable Criteria

    • Familiarity and Experience in TDD (test driven development).
    • Familiarity with SonarQube, Splunk, SiteCatalyst.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of phone features such as accelerometer, camera, GPS and experience integrating with these functions.
    • Understanding of Agile methodologies.
    • Demonstrated ability for creativity and innovation.
    • Demonstrated ability for sound technical design.
    • Ability to effectively engage subject matter experts and understand technical topics.
