Application Site Reliability Engineer III - Markets

    The Application Site Reliability Engineer III - Markets will help ensure the reliability and performance of our Markets trading and real-time post-trade systems; systems where latency, performance and the capacity to seamlessly facilitate the busiest trading days in the world economy are critical requirements. 

     

    The successful applicant must be able to solve problems creatively, communicate effectively, and work both independently and collaboratively.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with senior SREs and Product engineering teams to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot our Markets systems.
    • Collaborate with Product teams to continuously improve observability and alerting of our applications to enable data-driven business decision, faster issue detection and incident resolution.
    • Take accountability for delivery of moderately-complex features.
    • Lead technical discussions for own work and present solutions and approaches.
    • Support the migration of markets applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring a seamless transition.
    • Assist in automating tasks to enhance system scalability and reliability.
    • Contribute to incident response and on-call rotation - own and resolve escalated incidents, identifying and mitigating root causes.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system performance and efficiency
    • Act as a mentor to L2 and L1 resources in the Application SRE department.

     

    Skills:

    • Experience with Linux-based systems and Cloud-based platform(s).
    • Experience and knowledge of working with distributed systems and working with Docker & Kubernetes
    • Exposure to working with metrics & monitoring, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
    • Experience working with Infrastructure as Code
    • Competent programming/scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.).
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced trading environment.

     

    Desirable

    • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, GCE, and/or GKE.
    • Basic knowledge of networking (HTTP/TCP/UDP/IP).
    • Experience in Financial markets.
    • Experience with REST services and message-oriented middleware.
    • Experience working in an agile environment.
