Composites Design Engineer

    Joining a team of composite designers working to develop the next generation fighter Aircraft, supporting a world leading Aerospace company.  

    Responsibilities

    • Specialising in the use of Composites in Primary and Secondary Structural Design,
    • Development and detail design of Composite structures
    • Interfacing with specialists, manufacturing facilities and external suppliers, thus comprehending, analysing problems in order to arrive at the best solution
    • Assist in ensuring that the composite structure design is delivered in line with programme requirements
    • Releasing model based definition of composite structure to aerospace standards allowing manufacturers to produce the parts efficiently. DFM.
    • Assist in defining the most effective way to meet the Means of Compliance standards required in terms of Time, Cost and Quality.
    • Generating alternate proposals when required.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

    Essential skills

    • Good fundamental knowledge of Aircraft Structures.
    • Hands on experience of developing and building composite structure to a given standard.
    • Detailed understanding of composite design using multiple materials and methods.
    • Experience and proficiency using CATIA V5 Solid Modelling, Surfacing, Composite Work bench (CPD),
    • Experience using Siemens NX package is beneficial
    • FiberSIM, Composite development, CEE (Ply By Ply) and ACEE (Zonal) workbenches preferred, but not essential as training will be given.
    • PLM Teamcentre

    Experience

    • Experience of certifying to aerospace standards.
    • Experience in communicating with management, as well as technical and business teams to collect requirements, describe product features and technical designs.
