Competitive Intelligence Manager

  • Join our team as a Competitive Intelligence Manager and help us track, evaluate, and analyze the cybersecurity competitive landscape. Your expertise will be crucial in surfacing tactical and strategic insights that help us differentiate our offerings and uncover opportunities that help us win.

    About the Team
The Market Insights team’s mission is to empower Rapid7’s stakeholders with critical market and competitive intelligence to make better strategic decisions and arm our GTC teams with the insights to drive growth. Our goal is to answer three key questions for Rapid7:

    • Why are we winning?

    • Why are we losing?

    • How do we win more, faster?

Our team is responsible for activating this intelligence across the company. Our impact is seen in product roadmap decisions, marketing/messaging, customer acquisition, and executive strategy – all informed by us keeping an ear to the continually changing market, buyer, and competitive dynamics.

    About the Role
This role requires a passion for being one step ahead of the competition and sharing knowledge to shape our Go-To-Market motion, marketing messaging, product direction, and strategic vision. If you crave ownership, thrive on turning industry trends into actionable insights, and possess strong sales instincts, then this role is perfect for you!

In this role, you will manage the following:

    • Market Intelligence: Research and understand the broader competitive landscape and partner ecosystems including market data, industry trends and statistics, and product solutions. Synthesize and share insights from industry analyst engagements, reports, and competitive intelligence to team members across Rapid7 to drive alignment and maximize program impact.

    • News Monitoring: Keep a daily pulse on industry news, curate key headlines, and own the distribution of this contextualized analysis through our competitive newsletter whenever significant news impacts our business. Your analysis will be important to inform the company on why it matters and how it impacts Rapid7, not just reporting a new change.

    • Strategic Insights:   Monitor and share insights from the market about key security trends, competitive moves, and market directions to influence how our Sales, Product, and Marketing teams should adjust our strategy.

    • Voice-of-the-Buyer:  Assist in gathering, analyzing, and documenting key voice-of-the-buyer insights that can be shared across the entire organization.

    • Product Analysis:   Research and analyze competitive solution offerings, capabilities, and features to build resources highlighting our strengths, and weaknesses vs. the competition.

    • Competitive Threats:  Monitor up-and-coming startups, incumbent players, and adjacent markets. Proactively identify new competitive threats before they impact revenue

    • Field Insights:  Gather feedback from sales teams, customers, partners, and internal stakeholders regarding our competitors and scale these learnings across the business.

    • Content Creation:  Create and maintain core competitive enablement materials. Work with sales, marketing, and sales enablement teams to keep our battlecards, sales collateral, training sessions, and other tools fresh with up-to-date content.

    The skills you’ll bring include:

    • Minimum 5+ years experience in Market Insight, Product Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, Technical Product Manager, Sales Engineering roles, or experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this role.

    • Experience in B2B technology. Experience within cybersecurity spaces is strongly preferred.

    • Superb project management skills. From Day 1, you’ll need to own projects and align stakeholders across multiple teams—many of which may have competing priorities.

    • Ability to simplify a complex industry, product, and customer concepts, and understand how they’ll impact our teams and customers across Rapid7.

    • Strong market research, quantitative, and analytical skills, with demonstrated capabilities in interpreting data and qualitative info and distilling them into actionable key takeaways.

    • Strategic thinking, with the ability to consolidate information from multiple sources into relevant, easy-to-use, and actionable insights for different audiences and stakeholders.

    • Ability to create visually appealing reports and findings to convey key insights and recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders and senior management.

    • Excellent ability to take competitive insights and weaponize them for our sales, partner, and customer audiences (competitive playbooks, battle cards, etc.)

    • Confident and clear written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparing and presenting written reports and analysis to internal stakeholders and external customers, across all levels.

We know that the best ideas and solutions come from multi-dimensional teams. That’s because these teams reflect a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences. If you are excited about this role and feel your experience can make an impact, please don’t be shy - apply today.
