  As we spearhead a cultural shift to a data-driven business, Data Engineering serves as the Hub for all teams at Rapid7 from ML Ops, to Sales and Operations to Platform and Engineering.   About the Role

   

  As the Data Engineering Manager, you will lead Rapid7’s entire Data Engineering function in their mission to provide democratized, integrated, and self-serve data solutions to empower internal Rapid7 data consumers with operational efficiencies and insights at scale. You will directly manage our talented group of Data Engineers through design and deployment of various data product offerings and architectures and serve as a mentor for team members. You’ll have the liberty to drive business value through thought leadership and innovation as we continue to work towards the high standard we’ve set for ourselves - a best-in-class data platform. 

   

  In this role, you will:

   

  • Work in a hybrid capacity managing and mentoring a team of data engineers while also being involved in hands-on technical design and leading team initiatives

  • Drive highly visible strategic objectives and develop vision for Rapid7’s data engineering program 

  • Own core data infrastructure and tooling including AWS, Snowflake, Airflow, CI/CD, GitHub, dbt, Fivetran and more

  • Architect and develop best practices for data integration, data modeling, unit testing, and data productionisation

  • Partner with Data Engineering BA to refine and size user stories and facilitate scrum events for the team

  • Optimize data lifecycle management and process to improve delivery efficiency and data integrity

   

  The skills you’ll bring include:

  • 6+ years in a hands-on data engineering role developing data pipelines, infrastructure, integration and/or technical development of data architecture

  • 3+ years of experience directly managing data engineering teams including direct people management, management of cross functional stakeholder partnerships, and owning the vision for an organization

  • 6+ years of experience in at least one programming language (preferably Python). as well as advanced hands-on SQL work 

  • 3+ years of experience working with a modern cloud data lakehouse (preferably Snowflake) and orchestration tools (preferably Airflow)

  • Hands on experience working with the “modern data stack” (dbt, Fivetran, Stitch, etc)

  • 3+ years of experience with a major cloud provider (preferably AWS); hands-on experience with code deployment in cloud environments using Terraform is a plus!

  • Knowledge and ideally hands on experience working with container services is required (ECS, Kubernetes, etc)

  • Sharp business and interpersonal skills; ability to influence at senior levels across business units to drive change and achieve common goals

  • Expertise in data architecture, data warehousing, and metadata management 

  • Extensive experience with a CI/CD tool such as Github Actions and AWS Code Pipeline

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Analytics, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another   quantitative field. or equivalent experience and certifications will be considered
