    About the Team: ICG Production Management

    Our Production Management team provides critical business and technical support to the Institutional Client Group (ICG); working collaboratively to ensure that our platforms and services operate for our clients, whenever they need them.  We act as highly skilled and valued partners to our businesses.

    Role Overview

    As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer within Institutional Clients Group, Production Management, you will operate across critical, large cross-departmental and multi-disciplinary areas within ICG to deliver high impact work.  The role is part of a multi-year transformation journey that will require a successful candidate to establish best practices, motivate and promote a cultural shift that will ensure a successful adoption of SRE Principles and Practices.

     

    This role presents an excellent opportunity for a successful candidate to develop a broad range of technical and soft skills, as well as the ability to develop an understanding of the different business functions within ICG. You will gain significant experience of the advanced technologies used to run our business regionally and globally, giving you vast exposure to new and existing methodologies and systems.
     

    There will be multiple opportunities for exposure to our firmwide technology network and potential to develop into a role in one of our many growing technology functions throughout Citi.     Responsibilities

    • The Site Reliability Engineer is responsible to partner with multiple technology teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals; identify and define necessary system enhancements; analyse existing system logic, identify problems; and recommend and implements solutions.
    • Improve the service level the team provides to our end users, which includes maximizing operational efficiencies, strengthening incident management, problem management, resiliency, and recoverability in addition to knowledge sharing practices.
    • Guide development teams on application stability and supportability improvements.
    • Drive continued cost reductions and efficiencies across the portfolios supported by means of Root Cause Analysis reviews, Knowledge management, Performance tuning, and user training.
    • Fosters a culture that promotes transparency and innovation for increased team productivity.
    • Coaching members of the team and outside the immediate reporting line about the best practices and recognises anti-patterns that are quickly addressed.
    • Avidly communicates progress and project status across the organisation and ensures that stakeholders are managed appropriately throughout the execution period.
    • Appropriately assessing risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

     

    Skills/Qualifications

    • Excellent debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills: ability to isolate root cause across networking/infrastructure, application, and database stacks
    • Passion for continuous improvement and experience in toil elimination/automation.
    • Excellent understanding of SRE concepts (MTTs, SLI/SLO/SLA, error budgets, etc.) and Production Support Operations.
    • Excellent understanding of Software Engineering concepts such as Software Development Life Cycle and GitOps.
    • Polyglot developer mentality and ability to pick up new languages and skills.
    • Ability to engage senior stakeholders and lead discussions with clear, articulate, and highly assertive communication skills, adapting content/delivery for different audiences.
    • Experience of delivering software using Agile delivery methodologies is a must (SCRUM/Kanban)
    • Prior experience in a critical role with high business impact will be considered advantageous.
    • Operational experience with orchestration tools for CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling is highly desirable.
    • Experience designing & implementing observability solutions for data systems to enable a holistic view of system health
    • Operational experience of deploying and running services at scale on top of OpenShift/ /Kubernetes stack and a service mesh, is highly desirable

     

    Education / Higher Level Qualifications
     

    Bachelor’s/University Degree or equivalent experience will be considered
