Belfast-based OBBI Solutions won the Enterprise Software category award at the recent 2019 Invent Awards.
The company claims it is a “revolutionary cloud-based software solution which digitally optimises and integrates business-critical processes from HR, operations, health & safety and facility management on its unique platform.”
OBBI was created by Gareth Macklin, who is Director at the Macklin Group which employs over 650 people in care homes, hotels and construction sites.
He said that the solution, which was commerically released earlier in 2019, came about after he failed to find an existing solution anywhere in the world that would allow him to integrate the company’s business processes and streamline procedures effectively.
Gareth added that their Invent award win “comes at a great time for us with OBBI now being used by increasing numbers of businesses that need to increase productivity, save money and resources, and help relieve the stress and pressures of running a business."
He said: "We believe our product has been so successful because we designed and developed it with the insight of business owners, managers and staff; therefore, we know exactly what solutions companies need.
“With more challenges than ever before for business people of today, OBBI’s platform can truly make a difference and our clients are experiencing amazing results so far including headline reduction figures of up to 75% in admin time, 60% in onboarding time and 22% in staff turnover. Additionally, we’re increasing compliance visibility to 100% and ultimately saving lots of paper in the process!
"With more and more compliance, checks and legislative red tape combined with the significant desire to retain and develop the best people, I knew there had to be a better solution, and since nobody else had come up with it, I decided to invent it.
"The OBBI system handles all training, manages compliance and stores all data in one easy-to-access, secure place. This is a massive benefit in terms of health and safety with OBBI shown to reduce accidents occurring as staff training and compliance checks are kept well up to date.
“However should the worst happen, as the system has been built with the guidance of leading legal, safety and insurance advisors, the built-in accident management platform provides all the necessary details to help manage the entire incident from end to end.”
The team at OBBI Solutions said that their software platform is already proving hugely popular with a raft of businesses in multiple sectors where the majority of team members are not predominantly in front of computers, such as manufacturing, retail, hospitality, construction and health.
This year the Invent competition attracted more than 100 entries across six categories. The nine-month judging process challenged innovators and entrepreneurs to showcase their products to bring forward the best tech ideas Northern Ireland has to offer. Winners shared a prize fund of over £33,000 to help them further develop their innovative inventions.
