The Official ArcGIS for Schools Program Launch in Northern Ireland
May 13, 2019 Added by Esri Ireland
At Esri we are committed to helping schools thrive with free online mapping tools, tailored lesson plans and support, through our not-for-profit ‘ArcGIS For Schools’ program. The program was officially launched in Ireland in June 2018 and in Northern Ireland on 14th February 2019, making over €500m worth of our digital mapping software, ArcGIS Online, available to primary and post-primary schools across the island of Ireland.
By providing students with exposure to GIS, we believe it will enable them to not only become more prevalent in the technology we use daily, but to also become better problem solvers and evidence-based decision makers.
Since its launch in Northern Ireland, the initiative has received highly positive feedback, with a number of interesting projects being rolled out by the pilot schools involved in the program.
