Belfast to host One Young World summit in 2023

  • Belfast has won the bid to host One Young World, a global forum for young leaders, in 2023. 

    As host city, Belfast will welcome world leaders, global businesses, media, celebrities and youth activists from over 190 countries and various sectors, working to accelerate social impact and tackle global issues.

    At past summits, delegates have been joined by One Young World Counsellors including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Hollywood actress Emma Watson, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Sir Bob Geldof, the late Kofi Annan, Sir Richard Branson and Meghan Markle.

    Since its inception, the One Young World ambassador community has expanded into a global network of over 12,000 young leaders effecting positive change in countries across the world.

    Hosting One Young World will coincide with Belfast’s Year of Culture in 2023.

    Coming from city’s new cultural strategy, this project will consist of an ambitious year long programme of cultural events.

    One Young World Belfast's official launch will be broadcast live from ICC Belfast on Wednesday 31 March 2021 at 4.00pm. Details on how to tune in are yet to be confirmed.

    Speakers will include First Minister Arlene Foster and Deputy First Minister Michelle O’Neill, Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alderman Frank McCoubrey and Belfast City Council Chief Executive Suzanne Wylie.

    Panellists will include business, youth and community leaders and other speakers will include One Young World Counsellors Sir Bob Geldof and Ronan Dunne and One Young World Founders Kate Robertson and David Jones.
