Belfast software company Sentireal is creating six new jobs within the development of its virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) training applications.
One of the roles will be for a dedicated data scientist, to further bolster the work currently being done by the firm in artificial intelligence (AI).
Although based in Belfast, Sentireal’s entire workforce is currently working from home due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The business currently designs and develops cutting edge VR and AR (collectively known as XR) training applications for clients across the UK and Ireland, and is now working on opportunities in the US.

Discussing the benefits of XR training for businesses, Sentireal’s CEO, Tom Houston said: “As humans we don’t learn physical tasks by reading a book or watching a video. How many of us have learnt to ride a bike, drive a car, or play golf by reading a book or watching YouTube?
“We learn by doing, and that’s exactly what our training packages deliver - as close to a real world, physical experience as possible.
“The artificial intelligence in Sentireal’s solutions assesses the progress of trainees and adapts the content accordingly to deliver a personalised immersive learning experience, thus ensuring maximum engagement and maximum benefit.”
David Trainor, founder and CTO of Sentireal added: “The expansion of our development team will give us strength in depth and allow us to complete projects at a faster pace for our clients.
“Our first dedicated data scientist will help Sentireal further embed artificial intelligence into our products and make the personalisation element even more sophisticated.”

He concluded: “Previously VR and AR were really only accessible to organisations with large budgets. Now, as well as the larger companies, we are working with SMEs, Non-profits, and even private individuals looking to supplement their traditional training methods.
“The work we have carried out to make the development process as efficient as possible for our own reasons, is now paying dividends for our customers and making XR a very realistic and affordable option.”
