New cybersecurity start-up sets base in Belfast

    Cybersecurity start-up Angoka has set up headquarters in Belfast with a new Cybersecurity Development Centre at Catalyst, the Innovation Centre in Titanic Quarter.

    The hardware encryption company also has an office in London. It manages cybersecurity risks in connected and autonomous vehicles, smart cities and Internet of Things devices. The firm stated it will focus on creating secure communications solutions for businesses.

    It has been offered £45,000 of support from economic growth agency Invest NI towards the creation of nine new jobs, four of which are currently in place.

    Chairman of the company, Steve Berry announced his excitement to be “joining the excellent ecosystem for cybersecurity that has grown in Northern Ireland over the last number of years.” He said the Belfast location will enable Angoka to make the most of their “partnership with CSIT and RISE, the UK Research Institute for Security Hardware and Embedded Systems, at Queen’s University.”

    Job opportunities include engineering and business analyst roles. The firm also added that they hope to recruit candidates from the local universities.
