Ormeau Baths named one of the UK's best co-working spaces

  • Belfast's Ormeau Baths building has been named as one of the ten best alternative co-working spaces in the UK by a recent Wired UK article.

The past few years have seen the rapid rise of some brilliant alternatives to traditional office space across the UK, with incubators and innovation spaces popping up all across the country. New startups are now frequently punching far above their weight thanks to the reduced overheads afforded by using shared office environments such as co-working spaces and hackerspaces.

Chris Stokel-Walker over at Wired UK delved into the world of co-working spaces this week following news earlier in the year that US co-working giant WeWork has been valued at a staggering £37bn. The firm manages 930,000m2 of office space in 32 countries and is planning to launch an IPO later this year, but it's not the only player in the co-working industry.

Chris took a look at some of the smaller companies running great co-working spaces across the UK with a focus on supporting local enterprise, and Belfast's Ormeau Baths made the list. Ormeau Baths recently celebrated its second anniversary, seeing rapid expansion from its initial opening to now house over 80 startups, the Digital Catapult immersive tech lab, and the Pixel Mill game development accelerator run by NI Screen.
