TP ICAP Belfast at 10: Celebrating Our Journey, Opening a New Chapter

  • In September 2026, TP ICAP Belfast marked two significant milestones: our tenth anniversary and the opening of our new home at City Quays 3.

While anniversaries naturally invite reflection, this moment feels just as much about the future as it does about the past. Over the last decade, Belfast has grown from a small team of pioneering colleagues into one of TP ICAP's largest and most strategically important global locations. Today, Belfast is the Group's third largest office globally, supporting critical activities across Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Data, Corporate Functions and beyond. What began with just 15 colleagues has evolved into a multi-functional hub of almost 500 people, contributing expertise, innovation and operational excellence across the business.

The story of TP ICAP Belfast is ultimately a story about people.

Over the past ten years, we have attracted exceptional talent, built deep expertise and developed future leaders. Many colleagues have grown their careers alongside the growth of the Belfast office itself. Some have moved into global leadership roles, while others have taken their experience to offices around the world, helping to strengthen TP ICAP's global network. Belfast has become not only a centre of excellence but also an exporter of talent and capability.

As we celebrated this milestone, it was important to recognise the contributions of the people who made it possible. During our anniversary week, colleagues, clients, partners, community representatives and senior leaders came together to celebrate what has been achieved. The programme reflected many of the values that define Belfast today: collaboration, innovation, community impact and a strong commitment to giving back.

One of the highlights of the week was the opportunity to showcase our investment in Northern Ireland and our continued confidence in Belfast as a strategic location for growth. The opening of City Quays 3 represents the latest chapter in that journey.

However, City Quays 3 is far more than a new office.

It is a deliberate investment in how we want to work together in the future.

The workplace has changed significantly over the last decade. Technology gives us the ability to work from almost anywhere, yet the importance of human connection, collaboration and shared problem-solving remains as powerful as ever. Some of the most valuable ideas do not emerge from scheduled meetings or formal workshops. They emerge through conversations, relationships and spontaneous interactions between colleagues.

The design of City Quays 3 reflects that belief.

Every aspect of the space has been created to encourage collaboration, innovation and connectivity. Open workspaces, meeting zones and social areas are designed to bring people together, making it easier to share ideas, solve challenges and build relationships across teams and functions. The office creates opportunities for colleagues who may never have worked directly together to exchange perspectives and discover new solutions.

As organisations continue to navigate increasingly complex environments, these connections become more important than ever.

The challenges facing businesses today rarely fit neatly within a single function or discipline. Success increasingly depends on bringing different viewpoints together, combining expertise and leveraging the collective intelligence of an organisation. That is exactly what the Belfast office enables.

The breadth of capability represented here is one of our greatest strengths. Having colleagues from Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Data, Finance and Corporate Functions working side by side creates a powerful environment for innovation and continuous improvement. Problems can be solved faster. Ideas can be tested more quickly. Opportunities can be identified and delivered at scale.

This collaborative culture is already helping to unlock value across the Group.

Over the last decade, Belfast has evolved far beyond its original purpose. Teams here now play an increasingly important role in revenue-enabling activities, risk management, operational excellence and strategic transformation programmes. Belfast colleagues contribute to initiatives that improve processes, enhance controls, strengthen resilience and support business growth across global markets. As the organisation continues to evolve, the ability to provide both specialist expertise and cross-functional collaboration will become even more important.

One area where Belfast is particularly excited about the future is artificial intelligence.

Across financial services, AI is creating new opportunities to transform how work gets done. While the technology itself is advancing rapidly, the real value comes from applying it thoughtfully to solve genuine business problems.

At TP ICAP Belfast, we see AI as an enabler of smarter decision-making, greater productivity and increased capacity for higher-value work.

Whether it is improving operational processes, enhancing data analysis, supporting risk management or eliminating manual tasks, AI offers significant opportunities to create value for our clients, colleagues and shareholders. The focus is not on replacing people but on empowering them. By automating repetitive activities and augmenting human expertise, AI allows talented teams to spend more time on strategic thinking, innovation and delivering better outcomes.

The breadth of capability in Belfast positions us particularly well to play a leading role in this transformation.

The combination of technology expertise, operational knowledge and control functions working together creates an environment where practical AI solutions can be designed, tested and scaled. We are already exploring opportunities to use emerging technologies to improve efficiency, strengthen controls and unlock new insights across the organisation.

Importantly, the future of Belfast is not defined by technology alone.

Our ambition is to continue building a location where people can develop meaningful and rewarding careers. We want Belfast to remain a place where colleagues can learn, grow, lead and make a difference.

Northern Ireland continues to offer an exceptional talent pool, supported by world-class universities, a strong technology ecosystem and a collaborative business community. These advantages have helped Belfast become one of the UK's most dynamic business locations and remain a key reason why TP ICAP continues to invest here.

The opening of City Quays 3 reinforces our long-term commitment to the city and to the people who work here.

It also reflects the confidence that the wider Group has in the role Belfast can play in the years ahead.

As one of TP ICAP's largest global offices, Belfast is increasingly recognised not only for what it delivers today but for what it can help the organisation achieve tomorrow. The expertise, ambition and energy within our teams create opportunities to support innovation, improve performance and contribute to the long-term success of the Group.

Ten years ago, TP ICAP made a strategic decision to invest in Belfast. Looking back, that decision has delivered far more than anyone could have imagined.

Today, we are proud of what has been built. We are proud of the careers that have been created, the teams that have been developed and the value that has been delivered across the organisation.

But perhaps most importantly, we are excited about what comes next.

The Belfast story is still being written.

With a talented workforce, a world-class new office, growing expertise in emerging technologies such as AI, and a continued focus on collaboration and innovation, the next chapter promises to be even more exciting than the first.

As we celebrate ten years of achievement, we do so with ambition, confidence and optimism for the future.

The best is yet to come.
