Northern Ireland Survey Asks Businesses Whether AI Is Actually Saving Them Time

  • Businesses across Northern Ireland are invited to share their experiences, including those that have yet to use AI.

Businesses across Northern Ireland are being asked whether artificial intelligence genuinely saves them time - once the work of checking, correcting and refining its output is taken into account.

The NI Business AI Survey 2026, led by Galvia Digital with support from Belfast Chamber and input from officials within the Department for the Economy, is seeking to understand how businesses are using AI in practice and where they are encountering challenges.

The survey asks businesses about the time they spend using AI, how workplace policies and rules compare with day-to-day use, the difficulties they encounter, and what support would help them make more effective use of the technology.

The questionnaire is aimed at owners, managers and colleagues with an overview of their organisation. It is open to organisations of all sizes operating in Northern Ireland, including sole traders. Businesses that do not currently use AI, or have tried it and stopped, are also being asked to take part.

Martin Naughton, founder and Managing Director of Galvia Digital, said:

“Getting something back quickly is useful, but you still have to decide whether you can use it. We want to understand how much time that whole process takes and where businesses are finding AI useful.

“We also want to hear from those who have tried it and stopped or haven’t found a reason to start. Their experience matters when deciding what support businesses need.”

Clare Guinness, CEO at Belfast Chamber added:

“AI is developing quickly, but businesses will have different experiences of how useful it is in practice. We want to hear directly from our members and businesses across Northern Ireland about what is working, what is not, and where they need support.

“This survey provides businesses with the opportunity to help build a clearer picture of AI adoption across Northern Ireland and inform the support needed to help organisations make the most of the opportunities it presents.” The survey builds on Galvia Digital’s 2025 research into AI readiness and adoption in Northern Ireland businesses.

Responses will be reported in aggregate, without naming individual organisations. Respondents can sign up within the questionnaire to receive a copy of the findings when the report is published. The survey, which closes on 13th November 2026, takes around 10–12 minutes to complete, with shorter routes for some respondents and no technical expertise required. Organisations that have already completed this year’s questionnaire do not need to submit an additional response. Businesses can take part in the NI Business AI Survey 2026
