  • Written by the Almac Group

Would you like to build ethical software that contributes to the advancement of human health? Are you passionate about contributing positively to an indigenous, globally successful company? If yes, then joining Almac may be the next step in your software career!

The Almac Group is an established contract development and manufacturing organisation providing an extensive range of integrated services across the drug development lifecycle to the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors globally.

We are a privately owned organisation which has grown organically over the past five decades now employing over 5,000 highly skilled personnel across 17 facilities including Europe, the US and Asia. We have established a large Software Department team which plays an integral part in delivering our global operations on a daily basis.

Ethical software has become a top priority for the socially conscious software engineer and Almac is proud to be the position to offer a unique career opportunity which spans a wide variety of areas in the life sciences space. We have over 20 years’ experience in designing and building our own software internally, thanks to a highly skilled team which continues to develop and expand. As a software developer in Almac, you will have the opportunity to work in research and development, every stage of the clinical supply chain and modern interactive clinical systems all of which translate to shippable software that is actively used throughout our business right across the globe.

In terms of improving human health, an Almac Software Developer can expect to work collaboratively with scientists, clinical researchers and supply chain experts to name but a few. This typically requires an understanding of customer requirements and using their technical knowledge to advise and set the pace to shape Almac's future product roadmap. In many cases our systems are unique to Almac and, in some cases, even the lifesciences field.

What underpins all of our work is a passion for implementing the most modern technology to drive our innovative solutions. Modern web frameworks and back-end enterprise platforms are used to build our clinical systems which is supported by exceptional training. We work with modern mobile platforms to modernise our internal and external customer experience and engage with solutions that utilise the power of the BlockChain. We also inhabit a dynamic delivery environment that is very much embedded in Agile principles.

Don’t worry if you don’t have previous experience of working in the pharmaceutical industry – we are seeking individuals who share our passion for software development which makes a difference.  For example, we employ a number of developers who have joined us from a banking and finance background, and have made the successful transition to our industry.  What is important to us is your technical knowledge and the other transferable skills which you can successfully apply to your role at Almac.  In turn, we offer a training and mentoring programme which will support you along the way.

As we celebrate our fiftieth year, this is undoubtedly an exciting time for Almac- we are growing rapidly, new technologies are emerging and we are making a real difference to the advancement of human health every day. Real job diversity means that two days are never the same, along with proactive problem prevention and issue resolution which offers an interesting dimension to the role.

Why not consider making the move yourself?

In return, we can offer you a competitive salary and benefits package as well as the chance to work with some inspirational people in an innovative global company.  As well as excellent training and development opportunities we offer real potential for career progression and much more!
