What does your typical day look like?

I am mainly responsible for ensuring we deliver a quality service and/or product to our clients. I am there to assist and support the various roles on my teams to help them achieve this aim. I talk to our clients on a regular basis, relationship building with them, listening to any concerns they may have and addressing them. I also work with our commercial team on a daily basis so we can understand current and potential future work. Some other aspects of my role are forecasting expected revenue, invoicing clients, performance management and interviewing potential employees.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently working on projects from 3 different companies, all in the financial sector.

What inspired you to join this company in particular?

The values that Version 1 has greatly appealed to me – they are the values that I have had for all my career. Honesty & Integrity, Excellence, No Ego, Drive, Customer First, Personal Commitment.

Did you always want to work in this industry (tech)?

Not always but by the time I got to university, I was more certain that I wanted to work in IT.

What’s your favourite part about your work?

I can honestly say that all of it is. The rewarding part is when we successfully deliver to the client or the client specifically calls me or my teams for recognition of a good job done.

What would you say to other people considering a job in this industry (tech)?

I would recommend IT to anyone that asked for my advice. There are such a broad range of roles within IT Consultancy and there is definitely something to suit everyone. It’s not all about software engineering and coding!

How do you see this technology impacting on our lives?

IT will always have the ability to change our lifestyles. Some of the technology I am currently working on will make life easier for us all, from speed of access to financial information, more automation of routine tasks etc

Who inspired you to work in this field?

I can’t say anyone initially inspired me to work in IT but since I joined IT, I have had many leaders in my career that have inspired me, encouraged me, recognised me and advised me. I wouldn’t be in the place I am now without some of those people having a positive effect on my career.

What do you consider to be the most important tech innovation or development in recent years?

The cloud has been and continues to be, in my opinion, one of the greatest recent advances in technology

What tech gadget could you not live without?

    Boring, but my phone!
