Tech Trailblazers

Tech Trailblazer: Adhuvaid Harikesan

  • Name: Adhuvaid Harikesan

Role: Project Manager at Version 1

What are you currently working on?

Currently, I'm working as a Project Manager for one of our Investment Banking clients, optimising their processes and regulatory reporting projects.

What inspired you to join this company in particular?

First and foremost, I had a positive experience with the company during their open night event last year, which helped me gain a better understanding of the company's operations, service offerings, and diverse culture. For the previous two years, Version 1 has been chosen Ireland's best place to work indicating the employee culture. The core values, Version 1 holds are different from those of most other firms where I've worked before, and they align with our personal core values.

Did you always want to work in this industry (tech)?

I've always been an enthusiast of digital technology and use them to solve business problems. When it comes to generating new products and services for the end customer, the IT industry is extremely innovative and creative. What’s your favourite part about your work? There are several aspects of the job that I enjoy. As a project manager, I enjoy the level of responsibility that comes with the position, as well as the challenges it brings. I also enjoy the notion that there is always something new to learn as a project manager. Project managers can offer additional value to project delivery by utilising technology.

What would you say to other people considering a job in this industry (tech)?

The term "technology" is a broad one. Many positions include technological knowledge, but that doesn't always translate to an engineer huddled over a desk building the next big app. The kind of IT jobs offered differ by organization, and contrary to popular belief, you'll need soft skills like communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and flexibility to succeed.

How do you see this technology impacting on our lives?

The use of technology has both beneficial and adverse consequences on our lives. Elon Musk's notable recent impact will be his satellite Starlink giving internet continuity to Ukrainians throughout the war. The folks who lived there were able to speak with their loved ones as a result of this. People can use technology to connect and solve problems. Who inspired you to work in this field? There have been inspirations throughout my career, and I've been fortunate enough to have some incredible mentors who have shown me the ropes and assisted me in enhancing my skills. Brijesh CM was one of my mentors, and he taught me how to approach and solve problems. He coached me on my talents and gave me the courage to pursue the projects I wanted to pursue. He has always been a source of inspiration and guidance for me. Brijesh is the founder of a data science academy and a mentor to the Kerala start-up community in India.

What do you consider to be the most important tech innovation or development in recent years?

Green IT has been increasingly popular in recent years. Every company has a goal of providing a faster path to long-term sustainability. Using innovative technology and ways of working to enable viable solutions that also have a favourable effect on net zero and other environmental, social, and governance goals is what the Tech Eco Advantage is all about. Version 1 is also dedicated to achieving Net Zero status by 2025, 25 years ahead of the worldwide goal.

What was your background before joining the company?

Prior to joining Version 1, I was pursuing on a master's degree in data analytics at Queen's University Belfast. During the epidemic, I travelled from India to pursue my master's degree, which was one of my significant life decisions to leave my job and pursue a course full-time. Throughout my career, I've worked in a variety of disciplines, with data analytics being one of my favourite areas. I have ten years of expertise in program and project management, business analysis, data analytics, and innovation consulting with a variety of organisations in both the public and private sectors. I've always wanted to improve my technological and project management skills.
