Name: Adrienne Hanna
Role: Founder & CEO, Right Revenue
What does your typical day look like?
A typical day in the office starts at 6.30am as I like to be in the office before everyone else and get at least a little of my own work done. As CEO, you spend your time in sales; marketing; managing the product roadmap; working with the CTO on future developments; keeping on top of accounts; raising finance; preparing for board meetings; looking out for the team and even cleaning the toilet! However, I also write for industry journals; speak at hospitality events and run a monthly webinar series, so there is always lots to do and lots of variety.
What are you currently working on?
We have just raised a third seed round which is great news and allows us to keep developing and growing the business. Right Revenue provides hotels with price recommendations, a forecast of demand and a unique suite of reports which helps ensure that they always offer customers the very best rate. This technology has never been built in the UK or Ireland before so everything we do is ‘green field’.
What inspired you to join this company in particular?
I am CEO so I started this business as I saw a problem in an industry that I am passionate about and I wanted to solve it. Hence Right Revenue was born.
Did you always want to work in this industry (tech)?
Absolutely not! I am a hotelier and didn’t start this business until I was 47 years old so this is still very new to me
What’s your favourite part about your work?
Definitely the great customer feedback that we get and the excitement of developing something brand new
What would you say to other people considering a job in this industry (tech)?
Do it because you absolutely want to – not because you think this is a great way to make money. Be passionate about it!
How do you see this technology impacting on our lives?
Every room in every hotel is sold at a different price to every customer and on average for every £100 a guest pays, a hotel makes less than £6 profit. So Right Revenue ensures that every guest receives the very best rate, while ensuring that a hotel remains profitable.
Who inspired you to work in this field?
The move into technology was not a natural one for me. After 30 years in tourism and hospitality, it has been ‘an awkward shift’ but one that I am loving. I am learning something new every day and love the challenges and the problem solving. I love the thought that we are inventing something and that the product changes rapidly.
What do you consider to be the most important tech innovation or development in recent years?
As a self-professed ‘non-techy’ I think it would be unfair of me to comment and I will leave that to the experts
What tech gadget could you not live without?
Is my phone too obvious?
