Ten Northern Ireland organisations will go forward to represent the Northern Ireland region in the sixth annual Private Business Awards, the nationwide scheme that celebrates the contribution private businesses make to the health of the UK economy.
Sponsored by PwC, the awards recognise the UK’s most successful private sector companies and their management. A number of the Northern Ireland companies are qualifiers in more than one category.
Northern Ireland firms have a strong track history of success in the PBAs. Over the years of the competition, seven local organisations have been finalists. In 2013, Craigavon-based, Ulster Carpet Mills (Holdings) Ltd. was named UK Exporter of the Year, while in 2012 at the second annual awards ceremony, Belfast’s Bryson Charitable Group was named Social Enterprise of the Year.
Private businesses across the UK have been nominated across 10 categories, including CEO of the Year, Family Business of the Year, Private Business of the Year and Technology Innovation of the Year.

“Northern Ireland organisations have performed remarkably well in the six years since the Private Business Awards were inaugurated and we’re hopeful that this year will see further success.
“In recent years we’ve seen a growing number of young, technology businesses emerge as nominees and 2016 is no exception. But it’s also refreshing that businesses from more traditional sectors like construction and food processing continue to demonstrate their competitiveness.

The awards national shortlist will be announced on 29 June 2016 and the winners of the UK Private Business Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on 15 September 2016 at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London EC1.
