  • Almost 200 volunteers from Fujitsu Northern Ireland donned their running shoes for the company’s UK wide ‘5K My Way’ challenge to raise support for its charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support.

    Collectively, staff from Fujitsu’s Northern Ireland offices covered over 500 miles and raised almost £7,000 for the leading cancer care charity which aims to improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer.

    Speaking about the 5K My Way challenge, Fujitsu’s Sinead Dillon, said;

    “From Manchester to Wakefield and Belfast to Derry~Londonderry, hundreds of Fujitsu volunteers from our sites across the UK came out on force to support the incredible services offered by Macmillan Cancer. This is just the first in a series of special fundraising events we will be holding in aid of Macmillan and the support they offer to those people and their families affected by cancer. While the weather was against us in Northern Ireland, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the runners and I congratulate all those who took part, particularly those who stretched themselves to complete the 10K route!”

    As well as engaging in fundraising activity, Fujitsu is working with Macmillan Cancer Support to create a single technology platform to revolutionise the way volunteers engage with the charity. This new platform will enable Macmillan to better recruit and mobilise the volunteers who are vital to ensuring the charity can reach everyone affected by cancer.
