    Emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) will liberate and empower people, businesses and the public sector enabling innovation and greater productivity, says global ICT solutions provider Fujitsu in their newly updated Fujitsu Technology and Service Vision (FT&SV).

    Fujitsu also believes digital co-creation – a process which blends customer business experience with digital technologies to create new value together and drive innovation - will become a new business norm in an emerging digital society.

    The global ICT company predicts that intelligent systems will be able to employ AI to learn from data, generating new insights and supporting people in making optimal decisions. Pointing to a number of its existing co-creation projects, Fujitsu says that if embraced by businesses in Northern Ireland, digital co-creation can bring about a host of benefits for both the public and private sector and the economy as a whole.

    Sinead Dillon, Principal Consultant at Fujitsu explains;

    “From the existing digital co-creation projects we have developed in partnership with businesses, we have seen first-hand how the process results in breaking down traditional boundaries to provide innovative solutions across the board – from integrated customer services to supported decision making through automation. This isn’t a process just for technology companies; working together will a variety of businesses we have created innovation solutions for those in the healthcare, agri-food and retail sectors.”

    Recently, Fujitsu and the Innovation Unit of the San Carlos Clinical Hospital in Spain jointly developed an AI solution called HIKARI. The system brings together an advanced suite of micro-services enabling doctors to extract knowledge and carry out analyses using multiple data sources related to patient health, assisting doctors in making more informed decisions, while freeing them from the burden of reviewing piles of paperwork to extract information.

    Sinead continues;

    “From embracing the digital co-creation process, we can look forward to more personalised healthcare and wellbeing services, mobility solutions instead of transport, and customer lifestyle experiences instead of retail.  To capitalise on the opportunities presented, now is the time for industry leaders to develop a vision for a digitally-transformed world and implement their digital business architecture.  Co-creation is all about realising that vision and requires a new style of technology that connects everything, learns from data, generates intelligence and empowers people to make better decisions,”

    Fujitsu believes that successful firms of the future will design their business models around the three transformational forces of digital technology:

    • Connectivity – connecting all internal systems and connecting to external partners
    • Intelligence – generating intelligent insights from huge volumes of data through AI learning
    • People – shifting the business view from the supply-side to the customer side to deliver truly personalized customer experiences
