  • A restaurant situated on the borders of County Armagh and Down, has completed extensive renovation work in a bid to increase its share of the business event and wedding markets.  Part of the investment was supported by Danske Bank.

Sinton’s at the Bridge opened in 2012 and currently employs 30 staff.  Situated in Scarva, the restaurant is managed by husband and wife team Graeme and Julianne Morton.  The downstairs restaurant caters for 120 people whilst the new upstairs space can host up to 80 people.  The business prides itself on serving good honest food with a contemporary twist

Mrs Morton commented: “Over the years we have been making small improvements to our facilities and felt the time was right to extend the space to enable us to feature prominently in what is a very competitive market.  The building work took six months to complete.  We removed the dividing walls to better utilise the floor space and invested in a complete makeover.

“The new space will allow us to promote the restaurant as a truly unique wedding and conference facility.  As demand grows for use of the new facility, we’ll have to take on additional staff.  We have also updated the exterior appearance of the restaurant, improved accessibility and resurfaced the car park.  The industry is always changing, so we know we need to keep updating our menus and train more staff to ensure the continued success of the restaurant.

“When we presented our plans to Danske Bank, they were very supportive and keen to help us.  We have an excellent relationship with the team locally and they have been there to offer guidance whenever we have needed it,” she added.

Philip Melville, Business Banking Manager at Danske Bank commented: “Graeme and Julianne bring a wealth of experience and passion for the hospitality industry.  They have demonstrated a willingness to invest in their business in order to compete and to break into new markets.

“The new extension will provide an excellent facility for business events, weddings and private parties.  The hospitality sector is a key contributor to our economy and we were pleased to be able to support Sinton’s at the Bridge with their plans to grow the business.”
