How You’ll Support Our Mission
Our Fire team in Belfast owns 3 mission critical applications used to help US firefighters go about their daily job of protecting their communities and saving lives. With this role, you’ll play a crucial part in helping to serve those firefighters.
We are growing by adding a second DevOps engineer to the team and you will be embedded, to help evolve our infrastructure and our best practices. You’ll work alongside your team members to understand their needs and to help build automated solutions for deploying the infrastructure and services required to run our applications in Azure. You’ll be hungry to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
You will have the chance to join a growing and passionate team, working on critical products, whilst being supported with training opportunities and being mentored by some of Belfast’s finest DevOps engineers. Joining our team will be an amazing and truly rewarding experience.
The Belfast Fire team have full autonomy over all applications, from implementation right through to delivery into production. You will be part of the Product Engineering team, reporting to the Development Manager.
What You’ll Be Doing – the day to day
You can expect to work within the DevOps realm and write infrastructure as code (Terraform), help to advise colleagues and build Azure DevOps Pipelines, help with our move to serverless applications, be responsible for liaising with other infrastructure colleagues on behalf the engineering team (e.g., networking, DBAs, etc), solve hard problems and learn! We value competency, tenacity and problem-solving, and you’ll find plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and technologies, or even introduce your own best practices into your new team.
We are an Agile development shop and interact regularly with project stakeholders. To support this methodology, we use regular retrospectives and objective measurement to drive continuous improvement and empower our team members to make informed technology and implementation decisions. As part of the development process, you will be involved in design sessions and you’ll have the opportunity to learn through peer review of code and of completed solutions as well as learning from the team around you.
