  Your role in the team

   

  Allstate Northern Ireland provides a wide range of IT Services across the Allstate Family of companies and we are excited to be partnering with fellow group member SquareTrade, in standing up a new team to support the company’s rapidly growing European growth strategy.

   

  SquareTrade specializes in extended warranty services for consumer electronics and appliances.   The EU Business is experiencing hockey-stick growth and has ambitious goals to be a $500 million business by the end of 2022. The business plans to grow aggressively in the Consumer Electronics category as well as the B2B segment of providing protection plans for small businesses. The SquareTrade Allstate NI Engineering team will play a critical role in supporting the EU business meet its growth targets and contribute to the delivery of key offerings that will facilitate the growth strategy.

   

  We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic individual with proven experience in automated testing and a desire to broaden those skills into software development. The successful candidates will be responsible for providing expertise to the wider development team on creating automated test scripts covering every testing phase and in parallel, will be coached and supported to broaden their skillset to include software engineering.

   

  Longer term, the successful candidate will fulfil the role of full stack software engineer building fully tested software alongside their fellow developer colleagues.

   

   

  Responsibilities

   

  • Provide automated testing expertise to support all members of the team in building out comprehensive test suites including unit, integration, E2E and regression
  • Work with other QAs on automation efforts, identifying key areas for improvement and establishing best practices within the current team.
  • Provide guidance on defect management processes and ensure best practices in root cause analysis and defect lifecycles are followed within the team
  • Ensure appropriate sprint & release test reports and metrics can be generated by team as a result of the appropriate automated testing practices being adhered too
  • Help define, manage and automated deployment to test environments

   

   

  So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

   

  • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
  • 1+ years’ experience as a Software Test Engineer
  • Experience with REST services
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated test cases using Selenium and TestNG written in Java
  • Understanding of SDLC processes and agile, experience in applying test methodologies, creating test plans, test cases, test reports, and relevant tools and technologies

   

   

  We also have some desirable criteria

   

  • Experience with LINUX environments, build deployments, debugging & installation
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Experience with Git, Jira, Jenkins, Gradle, Selenium Grid
  • Experience with performance tools
  • Experience in or passionate about software development
  • Proven experience working in agile methodology & demonstrated ability to work in dynamic, fast paced work environments
