Cloud Design Engineer – Analytics - (hybrid or remote)

    Your role in the team

     

    Allstate is looking for experienced Cloud Engineers within the ATSV (Allstate Technology, Services & Ventures) Data & Intelligent Systems (D&IS) group; at D&IS we are responsible and accountable for the engineering and operation of the Allstate Big Data and analytics platforms. In this role you will have the opportunity to dive into the enterprise-wide digital transformation and collaborate to engineer the hybrid cloud patterns and solutions using Agile/Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies to support the modernized enterprise analytics environment.

     

     

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

     

    • Develop scalable, resilient, and pragmatic solutions leveraging cloud providers capabilities while meeting technical, security, and business needs for applications and workloads
    • Champion good engineering practices and help teams to define and set up frameworks for cloud adoption and consumption
    • Assist other teams across Allstate’s Data Management (D&IS) and Data Science (D3) in the engineering and development of cloud compatible solutions, cloud’s fit for purpose analysis and migration of their on-premises processes
    • Champion the appropriate use of open source and commercial technology for innovative solutions.
    • Execute strategic engineering proof of concepts
    • Contribute to technology strategy and engineering roadmaps

     

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • At minimum 2-5 years in Public Cloud experience
    • Previous experience in at least 2 of the following:
      • AWS Cloud Analytics Services ( e.g. Athena, EMR, Kinesis, Glue, Sagemaker)
      • AI / ML services (Computer Vision, Voice Transcription, NLU/NLP)
      • Integrated solutions (AWS Lake Formation, SnowFlake, Databricks)
    • Experienced in utilizing “infrastructure as code” and pipeline automation in a cloud environment

     

     

    The successful candidate must also demonstrate a high competency in:

     

    • Hands-on style - willingness and competence in advancing modernization in infrastructure and processes
    • Collaborative and customer-oriented track record, able to work effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries
    • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions. Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies quickly
    • Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies quickly

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
    • AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty
    • Containers experience (Kubernetes / Docker)
    • Data Processing Platforms experience (Hadoop, Spark, AWS EMR, Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics)
    • IT Security experience
    • Experience of CI/CD pipelines
