    Your role in the team

     

    Are you enthusiastic about quality and want to make an impact in both technology and business?  Are you skilled in test automation?  As a Test Engineer you will provide test execution on software development projects, focusing on the creation / execution of functional and automated test scripts.

     

    We are currently seeking Test Engineer Consultants to join Allstate and work within our Flight and Arity areas of the business. You will support critical strategic design and progressive, fully autonomous testing solutions across our Product suite. Utilizing agile methodologies and extensive cloud technologies.

     

    Allstate is hard at work creating the future of continuous testing and we now need a strong, energetic, and inquisitive engineer to play a key role in our teams.

     

     

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • The Test Engineer needs to manage workloads in an Agile development environment.
    • Engage appropriate stakeholders in risk identification and mitigation Designs, whilst helping develop strategic technical direction for highly integrated, autonomous test solutions.
    • Designing, coding and documenting automated test cases within the defined framework
    • Decompose user stories to be able to write effective automated and manual test scripts
    • Provide input into test strategies and develop test strategies for complex projects
    • Be a Quality advocate within their team
    • Provide input into test environment requirements for development projects
    • Understand issues related to the test infrastructure and escalate within team
    • Document, analyze and communicate bugs/issues accurately and clearly
    • Interaction with the wider scrum team
    • Participate in Scrum Daily Stand-ups, Sprints and iterative development activities – prepared to take on any role within an Agile team
    • Participate across all Agile Ceremonies ensuring focus on quality, customer experience & automated test practices. 
    • Ability to work in a very fast paced development organization
    • Decompose business requirements to be able to write automated test scripts for a mobile app within a defined framework that support Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline.
    • Participate in Scrum Daily Stand-up, Sprint and iterative development including: Sprint planning, release planning, backlog refinement, and retros.
    • Analyse results, detect issues and identify the root cause of malfunctions.

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience as an automation engineer OR
    • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in a hands-on technical role within Software Development
    • Experience of working with Java
    • Experience of working with Selenium
    • Experience of using test management tools
    • Understanding of functional testing including API and UI

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • CI/CD experience with a working knowledge of Jenkins or equivalent
    • Experience in test execution using cloud-based solutions
    • Understanding of Web Service Testing Tools (e.g. CA LISA, SoapUI, other WS tools)
    • Experience with delivering using Agile methodology practices
    • Experience with APIs
    • Knowledge of application security
    • Experience with source code management tools e.g. GitHub, GitLab
