Technical Project Manager

  • The Team

    At Aflac, we’re in the process of kicking off our cloud transformation program, a multi-year initiative that will see the modernization of our application ecosystem, enabling cloud-native enterprise architecture and revolutionizing how we operate to better serve our policyholders through faster innovation and speed to market. As a result, we are expandingour DevOps team that will be charged with supporting the transformationand defining how we do DevOps across the Digital Services organization within Aflac. This investment will ensure that we can accelerate delivering exceptional experiences for our 50 million policyholders. 

    But it’s not just a technology change; it’s a mindset change.  Pivoting an organization towards a new way of doing things, requires a passion for progress and a determination to eradicate manual effort.  And so, we are adding to our team who love the technology, but more importantly,are relentlessly seeking to positively impact the status quo and identify global optimizations which can help improve the flow of our agile teams. 

     

    The Role

    We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Managerwithin the DevOps domainwho understands the importance of DevOps in improving flow, quality, and stability.Someone who knows how to maximize the potential of DevOps tools and technologies so that Development teams can streamline their integration and deployment processes.  Someone who is technically astute with a range of CI/CD and Security tooling and best practices and who can work with teams to understand their needs and/or empower them to Continuously Improve their SDLC processes. 

    What you’ll be doing 

    • DevOps Stakeholder and point of contact through each phase of the cloud transformation program (Prioritization, Activation & Transformation at Scale) 

    • Engaging in technical discussions with application teams and stakeholders to understand the DevOps needs of the teams and funneling the requirements to the DevOps team(s) to help plan and prioritize. 

    • Establish and maintain relationships with project stakeholders and management 

    • Identify SMEs required to aid teams through DevOps Dojo’s or on an adhoc basis. 

    • Manage the expectations, scope and DevOps resources needed to support cloud migrations. 

    • Enabling teams adopting DevOps practices through technical discussions or workshops 

    • Facilitate review sessions with management and technical teams. 

    • Prepare user and training documentation as necessary. 

    • Advocate the importance of DevOps practices and help educate on best practices. 

    • Identify and share the standard tools, frameworks and patterns required for different technology stacks. 

    • Listening to the inputs of others and working towards the best solution that maximizes the value to the policyholder, without ego or prejudice. 

     

    What you should have 

    Below is an overview of the skills and experience we are looking for, but remember, don’t rule yourself out if you don’t have everything on the list – it’s your intellect and your attitude we’re really after. 

    Essential 

    • Excellent, written, and verbal communication skills 

    • Bachelor’s degree. Comparable commercial experience may also be considered 

    • Proactively participated in client workshops – first-class stakeholder management 

    • Technical competency in DevOps practices using a range of technologies 

    • Strong software engineering principles and architecture knowledge 

    • Experience in systems automation, virtualization, orchestration, continuous integration, deployment, and implementation 

     

    Desirable 

    • Experience working with engineers, leaders and functional areas located in different time zones. 

    • Experience in application development / software engineering  

    • Knowledge and experience in some of the key technologies required for the role, such as (but not limited to): 

    • Familiarity working with cloud providers in a large organization (AWS, Azure, GCP) 

    • CICD Tooling - GitHub, Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Artifactory 

    • Security Tooling - Veracode, Xray, Bridegcrew, Prisma, Twistlock, Snyk 

    • Test Automation 

    • Infrastructure as Code 

    • Monitoring / Telemetry
