Staff Attorney - EMEA

  • The role provides regulatory advice and support to the EMEA CME based businesses and activities and EMEA Sales and Marketing teams. It also includes EMEA implications for the US regulated activities and businesses (marketing/DCMs/products).

    The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director – Legal and Regulation (EMEA) and work closely with the wider Legal and related teams to ensure a consistent approach to regulatory issues across the region. The role works with the Legal and Regulation team and key stakeholders within CME to understand the commercial, operational and regulatory aspects of these businesses and activities. It is to also ensure CME stakeholders are provided with practical, commercial and where relevant, proactive regulatory support to ensure the safe and smooth running of those businesses and to support their future growth and integration.

     

    Principal Accountabilities:

    • Support advice to CME EMEA businesses and activities in EMEA to enable compliance with applicable regulation and understand and educate the wider group on the impact of applicable regulation on their activities and customers.
    • Understand legal and technical arrangements and new regulations involved throughout the relevant businesses and activities and work with Executive Director and Senior Director – Legal and Regulation (EMEA) and others to make decisions re the regulatory framework for the CME EMEA businesses.
    • Act as the primary provider of regulatory support for CME group’s market data and benchmark business and activities.
    • Liaise with the wider Legal and Compliance teams to ensure appropriate intra-group agreements and third-party agreements are in place to support CME group’s regulatory framework.
    • Provide regulatory support for EMEA marketing and sales activities of the Group.
    • Support the EMEA sales and onboarding teams with jurisdictional queries and conduct surveys for new business initiatives
    • Liaise with and support Compliance in relation to the regulatory regimes underlying the CME EMEA Businesses and activities.
    • Prepare documentation associated with CME EMEA businesses and activities such as Rulebooks and market making programmes, working with key internal stakeholders, in response to regulatory change and new business initiatives.
    • Support the US legal team with obtaining international permissions and support with regulatory filings.
    • Act as the initial primary point of contact in EMEA legal for CME group’s privacy team and support growth of CME’s privacy capabilities as the team grows.

     

    Criteria for Application

    • 2-4 years PQE
    • Financial services experience essential
