Solutions Architect

  • LOCATION

    Donegall Square West, Belfast / Remote Working

     THE ROLE

    As the Solutions Architect you will accelerate the delivery of digital solutions though leading the  architecture and design of said solutions and influencing the build of these solutions. You will drive Architectural governance within Danske Bank by developing, implementing and documenting the solution architectures and solution requirements and helping to define proofs of concept to test the architectures, models and corresponding technologies in sandbox or production environments and also to work with stakeholders in Group and the Bank to deploy those solutions in production environments.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    As a Solutions Architect, working within Technology & Digital Development, you will:

    • Leading the bank’s strategy of design, development and maintenance of technology solutions across all stages of the development life cycle, ensuring that solutions built are scalable and sustainable.
    • Communicating complex technical information effectively to a diverse range of stakeholders, including those without a technical background, resulting in productive working relationships and become a "trusted adviser" to business & technology teams
    • Work with the Head of Digital Development and Automation to create the technical roadmap for the evolution of the architecture for digital solutions.
    • Identify, recommend, source (from Group/external) and implement the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems, to support technology goals.
    • Provide technical recommendations and engage with Group Architects, Business SMEs and other stakeholders throughout the business and recommend effective solutions to develop high performance and highly scalable digital solutions
    • Develop and implement key components as needed to create testing criteria and standards, in order to guarantee the fidelity and performance of said architectures.
    • To coach a team of Developers in relation to the architecture and associated standards of operation, to ensure a high level of professional expertise, personal ability, operational efficiency and business performance
    • Group relationships – build and leverage relationships with Group API adoption colleagues and tribes, ensuring delivery of UK API roadmap, incorporating new technologies and relevant Group policies, concepts and practices into delivery of digital solutions.
    • Build and continuously expand expertise, acting as an API subject matter expert across the development areas
    • Serve as the point of contact for questions regarding API use, optimization and adoption
    • Develop design patterns for common API problems to ensure consistency and quality of development
    • Develop, extend and update API best practices and guidelines
    • Conduct meetings with other stakeholders across Group IT and their teams
    • Act as mentor and provide guidance to junior developers working with API development
    • Co-ordinate API releases across stakeholders to ensure high quality and timely delivery.
    • Ensure all activities are aligned to the Bank’s core values and consistent with the fair treatment of all customers

     

     WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS WILL YOU NEED?

     

    Essential

    • Degree in computer science or related field
    • Two or more years of software development (.NET or Java) and IT architecture experience
    • Two or more years of recent API development experience in the chosen platform (.NET or Java) and fundamentally strong in API basic concepts
    • Experience with API Management solutions, (IBM API Connect etc.)
    • Experience in API design and documentation tools (Swagger etc.)
    • Excellent understanding of API based design & development, including Domain Driven Design principles
    • Experience with web development using the single page application framework and experience with jQuery 

     

     Preferred

    • Experience with web development using the single page application framework and experience with jQuery 
    • Cloud-based(Azure, AWS, GCP and any other) development/exposure
    • API Authentication, authorization
