    Your role in the team

     

    Allstate’s Automation & Orchestration Organization is looking for motivated Kubernetes DevOps Engineers to help us build Kubernetes-centric solutions and automation.  We’re quickly developing a new cloud environment and the associated systems and controls to enable other business areas at Allstate to achieve their goals in an efficient and secure manner.  Kubernetes DevOps Engineers will join a highly collaborative team that works on cutting edge, industry relevant technology.  Don’t miss this opportunity to join an organization where your innovative thinking and technology skills can make an impact on the future of the way Allstate develops and delivers software in the future.   

     

     

    As a part of the team within Allstate’s Automation & Orchestration Organization, the successful candidates will have a strong understanding of Kubernetes systems/architecture and can leverage other tools to build secure solutions on top of Kubernetes.  These solutions may focus on platform onboarding, CI/CD, security, or user self-service.  Kubernetes DevOps Engineers are working with cutting edge technology like Kubernetes, Docker, GitOps, Flux, and many more container specific solutions.   We collaborate with the Platform Engineering team and the application teams that leverage the platform to build products that enable easy onboarding and utilization of the platform. 

     

    Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

     

    • Systems administration scripting of deployments, installations, and proof of concept efforts
    • Assessing use case, security concerns, and infrastructure support required for new applications onboarding to Kubernetes
    • Troubleshooting applications running on Kubernetes, educating application teams, and improving process
    • Actively learn different technologies as needed for delivery of stories and share that knowledge with the team.
    • Embrace an organization model that is self-directed / self-managed as a team and as individuals
    • Serve as a leader in all dimensions of the work:  people, process, technology
    • Daily interactions and open communication channels
    • Active participation in regular meetings (stand-up, planning and retrospective)
    • Able to work effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries
    • Embrace approach of making collaborative, fast, local decisions; then course correct as/if needed (test/learn/iterate)
    • Provide meaningful/thoughtful feedback on others as requested
    • Receive constructive criticism and take necessary steps to improve where/when needed
    • Maintain positive outlook in handling continuous change and bring a sense of urgency in driving positive change at Allstate (innovation, faster time to market, improved quality)
    • Satisfy all administrative-type requirements such as timesheets, performance management process, annual compliance, security training, etc.

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • 4+ years of technology development and implementation experience
    • Excellent DevOps background including familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker

     

     

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Undergraduate degree in software engineering or computer science
    • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (especially Agile XP)
    • Experience with the following:
      • Kubernetes Networking (Network Policies, Firewalls, etc)
      • Kubernetes RBAC
      • GitOps using Flux
      • Object Oriented Programming
      • Platform / System Administration
      • Jenkins
      • Helm
      • OPA
      • Artifactory
