    Your role in the team

     

     

    The Enterprise Economics & Risk Analysis (EERA) team is a cross-functional team operating at the heart of decision-making at Allstate. The team quantifies and optimizes risk and return for Allstate as a whole and provides macroeconomic advice to our portfolio managers to inform investment decisions on our $64 billion portfolio. EERA is led by the Chief Economist and has team members in both the USA and the UK. The team reports to the Chief Risk Officer and provides advice directly to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Directors.

     

     

    This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data Analysis branch of EERA to support business-wide risk analysis and automation of our decision-making framework. Responsibilities will include multivariate value-at-risk analysis and coding automation of our risk and scenario analysis platforms, as well as development of new analytical tools to support our economic capital framework.

     

     

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

     

     

    • Take ownership of updates to code base of framework risk models.
    • Develop and enhance analytical features & outputs to increase usability
    • Improve model run-times by improving code efficiency, parsimony, and hierarchy
    • Assist in developing value-at-risk models for underwriting and investment risks
    • Assist in developing forecasting models for business performance & exposures
    • Collaborate with business partners to understand the analytical needs of various corporate segments
    • Develop audited and reproduceable risk analytics to support decision-making
    • Support enterprise-level scenario analysis and corporate development initiatives

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • Degree level qualification (2:1 or above) in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or quantitative discipline, OR
    • 1 year’s coding experience,
    • Strong programing experience in Python

     

    The successful candidate must also demonstrate a high competency in:

     

    • Strong mathematical intuition and innate sense of date nature
    • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to deliver to tight deadlines
    • Ability to communicate complex ideas and analysis into practical terms for non-experts
    • Can work effectively in a team environment
    • Flexible and critical thinker, willing to constructively challenge ideas

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Postgraduate qualification or equivalent
    • Programming experience in R, MATLAB, JavaScript, C, C++, Go, SQL
    • Experience building code deployment pipeline solutions, user interfaces and APIs
    • Experience working with relational databases and increasing code efficiency through parallel processing
