    Your role in the team

     

    The Platform Backlog Manager will work with the Platform Managers, Sr. Platform Manager/ Owner and Lead Engineers to establish and maintain effective backlogs to deliver upon hosting strategy and day two operations across our hosting portfolio including Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes and other containerization automation products.

     

     

    The Platform Backlog Manager is the facilitator and team level coach for an Agile team and stakeholders, responsible for helping the team embrace agile values, adopt and apply principles, and implement Lean-Agile practices. Actively contributes to the Agile Community of Practice within Allstate and shares experiences with other Scrum Masters and/or Product Managers. They reinforce good context specific practices and techniques such as Scrum, XP, WIP limits in Kanban, or other process parameters the team has agreed upon including Definition of Ready (DoR) and the Definition of Done (DoD). The Platform Backlog Manager helps the team remove impediments and fosters an environment for high-performance, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.

     

     

    Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

     

     

    • Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Platform team and that the team understands and practices agility
    • Understands how Version One tool is being used at Allstate for quantifying and tracking work and is able to coach leadership and our teams on proper adoption and best practices
    • Facilitates and/or attends daily standups and weekly IPMs/retros, and reinforces the teams agreed upon rules including the definition of ready and definition of done
    • Finds techniques for effective backlog management, and ensures Platform Managers and Lead Engineers know how to arrange and forecast the product backlog to maximize value                        
    • Coaches the team in agile values and practices, empiricism, self-organization, cross functionality, continuous improvement
    • Helps the team create high value products that by removing impediments, and protecting the team from distractions and complacency
    • Causes change both inside and outside the team, to maximize the value delivered by the team
    • Ensures coordination between teams for integrations
    • Leads team efforts in relentless improvement by helping team members take responsibility for their actions, facilitating the team retrospectives, and teaching problem-solving techniques.

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • At minimum 3 years relevant experience within the IT industry
    • A minimum 1 years' Scrum Master experience
    • Certified PSM / CSM / PMI-ACP / SSM1st level

     

     

    The successful candidate must also demonstrate competency in:

     

    • Facilitating meetings and fostering collaboration across diverse groups of individuals
    • Knowledge and understanding of Agile values and principles
    • Knowledge and understanding of Servant Leadership
    • Ability to coach and influence others
    • Ability to coach and mentor platform managers/owners on their role in product development and steering the team

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Experience identifying anti-patterns and articulating tradeoffs
    • Has basic knowledge of Dev-Ops and it’s benefits to Agility
