    Your role in the team

     

    Machine Learning Platform Engineering position plays critical part in execution of Allstate’s EDDP (Enterprise Data & Decisions Platform) strategy. Data and Intelligent Systems department maintains several analytics platforms to provide computational and storage services to Allstate’s Data Scientists. Machine Learning Platform Administrator will be mainly responsible for enabling a healthy model ops platform.

     

    This position requires individuals with demonstrable experience in developing scalable, distributed and highly available enterprise platforms. The candidate must have strong, first-hand technical expertise in a variety of analytics and software platforms.

     

     

     Responsibilities include (but are not limited to); 

     

     

    • Configure, build, integrates, operates the platform and application environments with a focus on operational excellence.
    • Participate in team’s engineering practices around the continuous delivery of the platform, improvement projects, implementations, and upgrades of the modelops platform
    • Perform software installations including routine updates/fixes, major product upgrades, patches, enhancements, customizations, and new version releases.
    • Monitor, track metrics, and lead re-occurring meetings to discuss performance of the platform, ML models, insights.
    • Evaluates performance trends and expected changes in demand and capacity; and establish the appropriate scalability plans.
    • Troubleshoot problems that are of a high degree of complexity and difficulty that require exceptional analytical skills, innovation, and creativity necessary to formulate and implement the mechanisms to identify and solve the problems.
    • Identifies and troubleshoots any availability and performance issues at multiple layers of the platform from integration issues, SLA issues, scalability issues, etc.
    • Assist in the creation of SLA with our customers and provide tier 2 support of platforms and processes.
    • Ensure the compliance of the platform with the enterprise security and governance requirements.

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • 1-5 years of software or DevOps engineering experience with a focus on Kubernetes, Docker, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, CI/CD, etc.
    • Knowledge of REST API and web applications. Able to make changes to code of moderate to complex applications in one of the following languages/frameworks: Python, Java

     

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

     

    • Hands-on experience developing/managing products on public and private cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and VMware
    • Experience troubleshooting problems in a highly complex enterprise environment
    • Knowledge of streaming technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, etc.
    • Knowledge of machine learning practices
    • Familiar with various Python packages, e.g., flask, requests, pandas, numpy
    • Familiar with data engineering practices and technologies
