    Your role in the team

     

    We are pleased to announce and exciting opportunity within our Allstate Canada Server Platform Solutions team.

     

    We are looking for a motivated individual with the ability to be able to work both independently and as part of a wider team. This successful candidate will provide Server Management support for 200+ Linux servers for Allstate Canada, working closely with the architecture, developers, and the Product teams

     

    The role will focus on administering a Linux infrastructure while ensuring scalability, security, availability, and performance across 3 Data Centers (Production, Disaster Recovery and Non-Production).  

     

    We are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable professional with experience in different areas of system administration and experience in Installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Red Hat Linux Servers. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a proven track record of success, driving productivity and efficiency. 

     

    • Need to be proficient in Unix/Linux operating systems
    • Perform the full range of duties required in providing solutions to Allstate Canada Group (ACG) customer base, and have advance troubleshooting skills
    • Ability to converse technical terms and definitions to non-technical personnel
    • Provide support and installations, creating and managing various environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery and non-production needs.

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an infrastructure role with 2+ years administrating Unix/Linux operating systems (any version - RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc)  
    • Strong background in Linux Security and patching
    • Solid understanding of LAN and WAN networking
    • Supporting Oracle Databases running on Unix/Linux
    • Ability to deal with customers issues and problems
    • Awareness of ITIL Process of Incident, Change, Problem, service Request, Asset management and related activities

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • VMware experience preferred
    • Some experience in monitoring, logging, and backup technologies
    • Experience of working within a global team (conducting handovers, working in a shift pattern, etc)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience with Scripting and Automation technologies
    • Industry standard certifications (i.e., VMware, RedHat, CCNA)
    • Comfortable working in an Agile (Scrum) development environment
