Trading Operations Specialist

    We are looking for an Operations Specialist to join us in our Belfast Centre of Excellence as part of the Apex Clearing team. 

    About the role:

    We're looking for a motivated self-starter to join our expanding Operations team in Belfast. As a Specialist, you’ll be joining a team that executes on critical market-related and client-reporting functions.

    You will support the Accounts, Corporate Actions, Settlements, Banking and Asset Transfer (ACAT) teams by performing a variety of risk and regulatory functions.  This is an opportunity to support Apex’s core products for our introducing broker-dealers.

    What you’ll do day-to-day: 

    • Partner with the business. Monitor critical exceptions and help drive resolution.  Examples include asset transfers, corporate action event processing, account creation / restriction, mutual fund trade processing. Other work may include fraud monitoring and prevention, performing reconciliations and internal reporting.
    • Take care of Apex clients. Answer customer inquiries and requests for information via email and phone.  These range from simple to complex. 
    • Expand industry knowledge. Attain functional knowledge of FINRA, SEC regulations as it pertains to department functions. Understand workflows for a broad spectrum of client transactions and related reporting. Follow and enforce firm policies and procedures as it relates to these rules. 
    • Challenge the Norm:  Help develop and modify current processes in order to reduce risk and improve efficiencies.  Provide input to initiatives that will help change our business and the industry.

    About you:

    • Proven experience in the Financial Services Industry
    • Experience working in brokerage or financial services operations
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office; MS Excel in particular
    • Knowledge of trading operations, market mechanics, and the regulations that shape our business
    • Ability to learn quickly, meet deadlines, think critically, and apply creative problem-solving skills to resolve issues and implement process improvements
    • Self- motivated and able to work independently
    • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
    • Be a great team player who is willing to work cross-functionally to provide the best solutions for our customers
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent practical experience

    Bonus points:

    • 2+ years working in brokerage, or financial services operations
    • Familiarity with brokerage operations and consumer technology
    • SQL and a strong understanding of data organization
