Senior Software Engineer - Cash Management

  We are looking for an Intermediate Software Engineer to join us in our Belfast Centre of Excellence as part of the Apex Cash Management team. The Cash Management team at Apex FinTech Solutions has a prominent role in helping Apex meet its goal of democratising investment. Our API’s, workflows, and backend integrations reduce friction for customers moving money into and out of their brokerage account, in support of both equity and cryptocurrency trading activity. A modern microservice architecture built on Java, SQL, Mongo, Kafka, Rabbit, Kubernetes and Docker is in the process of migrating from an on-prem data center to the cloud (GCP), providing plenty of technical challenges.

  We use an agile approach with 2-week sprints, deliverables, and demos, but always reserve time for technical debt, quality assurance, and experimentation. We’re organized in small “feature teams”, each with its own feature captain and direct relationship with product management.    The skills you'll need to succeed: 

  • Applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK 
  • Significant experience working as a part of a multi-person development team, doing code reviews, testing, CI, trunk-based development, and/or other modern software practices 
  • Proficiency and in-depth understanding of Java, Python or C++ 
  • Experience in RDBMS design and writing SQL queries. 
  • Demonstrated skills in software design 
  • Interest in learning new technologies (languages, tools, frameworks) 
  • Adaptability: while you enjoy establishing process and standards, you understand the need to be flexible and enjoy trying new things 
  • A  DevSecOps mindset and a driving desire to deliver value through software 

   Desirable: 

  • Experience with cloud-native applications and infrastructure-as-code
