    Your role in the team

     

     

    The Allstate Canada Group is looking for a Software Test Engineer to join our Quality Engineering group.  

     

    Your role through a combination of technical knowledge and owning testing will be to ensure quality is built into new products from the start so that it is seamless, on demand, automated and invisible.

     

    The ideal person will have working knowledge of test automation in complex and large environments, be passionate about delivering quality products and had exposure to Services and Web UI automation testing.

    • The Software Test Engineer develops Java Automation test scripts for optimal execution of tests.
    • Conduct timely structured code reviews to ensure standards and systems interoperability.
    • Review and critique team members’ code.
    • Create accurate test plans, conditions, and data.
    • Participate in testing reviews.
    • Conduct basic levels of module and integration testing according to process standards.
    • Track and resolve moderate defects.
    • Assists Quality Control (QC) personnel with functional tests.
    • Identify support issues and initiate action to resolve the problem.
    • Provide technical assistance.
    • Analyze and resolve problems.
    • Execute change management activities supporting production deployment to Developers, Quality Control Analysts, and Environment Management personnel.
    • Completes and delivers migration or change management form to above parties

     

     

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hands-on technical role within the Software Development Lifecyle
    • Experience with Selenium Web driver using Java
    • Must have prior work experience with API Automation Data Driven Framework development using an API test tool such as Postman, Ready API, etc.
    • Experience working in Agile (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, XP) environments or knowledge of agile methodologies.
    • Experience working with collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence Jira, Zephyr, Git / SVN, Jenkins etc.
    • Experience with debugging/troubleshooting experience on Automation framework/ tools.
    • Exposure to Continuous Integration.
    • Experience working with key stakeholders (technical & non-technical) in a collaborative environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

     

     

     

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

     

    • Experience in defining and implementing Automation strategies and execution plans for two or more of the following:
      • UI Automation
      • APIs
      • Bespoke Utilities
      • Continuous Integration
    • Previous experience working with Policy, Claims systems within Insurance industry.
    • Have experience working in a global team.
