    Your role in the team

     

     Allstate is looking for Cloud Platform Engineers to join Platform Services & Enablement’s Platform Engineering team.  Platform Engineering is responsible for the engineering and operation of the Allstate Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings comprised of Pivotal Cloud Foundry.

     

    As a Platform Engineer Sr Consultant, they will be a primarily working in a paired programming environment, collaborating with different team members.  They will actively contribute shared and collective knowledge of the team about the systems they own and manage. They will collaborate in engineering and building out new platform products and services. They will ensure defined SLAs are met in executing operational tasks to maintain the platform and servicing customer requests. They will contribute to the engineering practices to improve the efficiency of the system itself, and the efficiency of the team in running said system.

     

    • Contribute to the development of various cloud environments and platforms within Allstate
    • Advocate for engineering practices and assist teams in using frameworks for infrastructure as code and immutable infrastructure concepts
    • Advocate the strategy and manage complex designs for the continuous integration and continuous delivery frameworks and tools
    • Participate in an on-call escalation rotation
    • Will be working primarily in an Extreme Programming environment and must be willing to work in a paired programming/engineering model

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • At minimum 4 year’s related experience
    • System Administration, Site Reliability Engineering, or DevOps Engineering experience
    • Experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, and Application Knowledge 
    • Experience in testing and programming
    • Base level understanding of network protocols/functions (HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS) and troubleshooting (using tools like tcpdump and wireshark)

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Experience with Platform as a Service/Container Orchestration software, like CloudFoundry, Heroku, Openshift, Kubernetes, Docker
    • Experience in using DSLs/frameworks for managing infrastructure as code like (or similar to) CloudFormation, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, BOSH, etc.
