    Your role in the team

     

    We are excited to announce a new Product Owner role opening within Allstate Business Insurance (ABI) at Allstate Northern Ireland to join our rapidly expanding team.

     

    The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on the new ABI Transformative Growth product Project Midway.

     

    ABI has created a new auto product to focus on small businesses with less than five vehicles by creating a new and modern user experience for customers and agents on a new platform using Duck Creek Technologies to allow customers and agents to quote, bind and service in a simple yet engaging way.

     

    You will be provided in-depth training in the new platform courtesy of the Duck Creek University Virtual training program.

     

    • Maximize product value by defining product goals, product roadmaps, determining priorities, writing stories, ordering the product backlog, and managing scope.
    • Translates business challenges into development stories by decomposing complex problems into smaller deliverables. Translates technical challenges into business and customer impact terms to ensure proper backlog prioritization.
    • Ordering, creating, and communicating product backlog items, driving transparency and working with the Product Engineering Manager to resolve any concerns with the business customer. Creates stories that meet both business and technical needs.
    • Creating and clearly communicating Product Backlog items; Establishing, ordering and prioritizing those Product Backlog items; and ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood by the scrum team and relevant stakeholders
    • Play a key role establishing, constantly improving, and executing on product development and delivery (with quality, stability, and customer focus) while maintaining a highly engaged, energized, and efficient team.
    • Coordinate cross-functional business and technical teams, along with relevant 3rd party vendors, required for the successful delivery of the product
    • Translates business priorities and development tasks into an execution flow using Agile methodologies (Scrum/XP). Ensures epics, features and stories are connected for team and leadership reporting.
    • Identify and remove barriers that may impede successful completion of product features. Facilitates tight feedback loops to ensure close alignment and escalates concerns in a timely and professional manner.
    • Plays active role in Scrum and ART ceremonies

     

     

    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

     

    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
    • 4+ years’ industry experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Product Owner/Product Manager role
    • Candidates must have previous experience with writing stories and managing a backlog for an application development team, at least 1 years.
    • Solid understanding of Agile Principles, Agile Lifecycle Management tools (e.g. VersionOne, Azure DevOps) and Scrum Methodology
    • Ability to tailor communication to the audience – from technical detail to high level overviews

     

     

    We also have some desirable criteria

     

    • Experience with system integrations, data management and data migration
    • Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
