    Your role in the team



    We’re seeking a passionate MongoDB Engineer with a project and automation background and understands multiple DBMS. You’ll work alongside a fantastic team of engineers and ccollaborate in the management and championing of emerging database technologies with concentration in the MongoDB.


    You will help us deliver on creating database structures for medium to large projects, provide support in the day to day operational management of Database Technologies and aid in software maintenance lifecycle management.  


    You will have the opportunity to analyse, consults and recommend different options for database performance tuning, database configuration implementation, create and maintains scripts and test plan execution.


    Here at Allstate no two days are the same. You will participate in enterprise incident, change and problem management activities and develop your career by developing our more junior members of the team.



    • Liaise, educate and advise business areas on data design, enterprise strategy and data enablement for NoSQL databases.
    • Lead incident, security and performance analysis.
    • Streamline redundant operations and automate recurring tasks through scripting and use of modern technologies.
    • Support initiatives in Agile frameworks across multiple business units.
    • Analyze database workloads, identify problem spots and design solutions to address these problems using monitoring and alerting tools.
    • Educate and mentor other database administrators.




    So, what are the essential criteria to apply?



    • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
    • Have a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a data professional
    • 3+ years in database management, testing, scripting and / or configuration
    • Experience in MongoDB and knowledge across one or more other data store platforms (MySQL, Oracle, Redis, SQL Server)
    • Experience working on cross functional teams




    We also have some desirable criteria



    • Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies
    • Experience with one or more of the following NoSQL databases: MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis or Snowflake
    • Experience with Cloud providers (particularly AWS) and open source automation software.
    • Experience with one or more of the following technologies: GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, Cloud Formation, Python, Kafka, Spark, Kubernetes, Docker.
    • Experience with a programming framework like Unix Shell, Power Shell, Python, Java, NodeJS, etc.
    • Experience with 20+ TB databases
    • Familiarity with Agile, Pivotal Cloud Foundry and continuous delivery environments
    • Familiarity with security standards and procedures like encryption, redaction and tokenization
    • Familiarity with the P&C insurance industry.
    • Familiarity with Project Management concepts and methodologies.
