  Allstate operate a very flexible hybrid working policy that will allow you to design your working week in collaboration with your manager with a blend of remote and office working for NI based employees as well as condensed working patterns (4 day week/9 day fortnight). Employees based in GB will be employed on a permanent remote working contract.

  Your role in the team

   

  We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing External Data Hub team.

   

  We’re looking for this Engineer to have a strong interest in modern technology stacks and the proven ability to fashion robust scalable solutions that can manage large data sets. We’re focused on developing our platform, so we hope you have a passion for learning the cutting-edge technologies.

   

  You will have the opportunity to analyze, design and develop enterprise level applications while collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions.The ideal candidate is a hands-on Java developer with Spring experience. The candidate must have first-hand technical expertise in a variety of technologies and the proven ability to deliver an enterprise grade software. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and learning the cutting-edge technologies especially in the world of Big Data.

   

  As well as that you will develop your career by elevating technology and consistently apply best practices and Identify new technologies to continuously enhance the existing products.

   

   

  So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

   

  • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Software Engineer; and
  • Solid hands-on experience in Java Development .
  • Working knowledge of Spring Framework and REST API.

   

   

   

  We also have some desirable criteria

   

  • Capable of delivering multiple product development projects
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of modern cloud platforms e.g. AWS or Pivitol Cloud Foundry
  • Exposure to big data and streaming technologies i.e. Hadoop, Spark or Kafka
  • Deep knowledge of software engineering best practices
  • Experience in designing and building API’s
  • Experience using build technologies e.g. Gradle, Maven, Jenkins
  • Scrum/Agile methodologies
  • Coaching/mentoring team members
